sorry to hijack; i too want to know this (but ideally without using any gadgets as my hair is naturally wavy. Any ideas on best products that give you silky waves rather than crunchy hair or frizz!?

This is my secret. You need to experiment with styling products. I alternate between salt spray and the bumble & bumble air dry Creme. I rough dry my hair concentrating on the roots (new parlux hairdryer is Amazing for this). Then twist into four section on each side of my head and twist all the sections together and secure with a hair band. I can't get them to meet at the back so just have a sticky out bunch on each side of my ears. Leave for as long as you can and then shake out and shatter the twists with your hands. So easy. My hair is v straight but this gives me 2 days worth of loose beachy waves

How do you section it Free? In what shape of sections IYSWIM?

Split it into two down the back, four sections on each side. Two on top two on bottom. The GIFS in the link show it pretty well (in case you missed my second post). I have 3 under 4s and this is doable in the morning chaos. V quick

Is your hair naturally wavy at all? If so let it dry naturally or even better dry it upside down with a diffuser attachment.

If going naturally comb through with a wide tooth comb, no brushing, and shake it up to get volume. Twirl lots of sections while wet into curls and then leave alone to dry.

Gets loads of curl on naturally wavy hair with minimal effort - can do it in the car on the way to work. Use some gel if you want hold and if you are going to style it curly every day you need blunt layers.

I've got a babyliss curling wand that i use the night before and then sleep on it so that it's more relaxed. Rough blow dry upside down, then section and curl with a little bit of back combing on the top of my head.

In the morning, i just finger comb it out with a tiny dot of serum and it seems to be ok.

Can't stop looking at the hairy armpits on the girl in Free's link

If you have straighteners you can use them to curl but do it in opposite directions and brush out. Then just spritz with salt spray.

I spray sea salt spray on it when damp and voila, job done. Takes about 30 seconds to do my hair.

Ha! Yes the armpits are interesting. But the method really works and I have v fine poker straight hair. Four big fat twists works better than more little twists for a light wave.

Sea salt spray works for me. Not much though or it looks greasy. I do have a slight wave anyway.

Fungus why? Women do have body hair and they don't all choose to shave it off, despite the pressure from society. We need women to be seen with body hair to normalise it and let women have the choice whether to keep, or discard.

Armpits? Interesting? Confused

I'll try some of these suggestions. I have naturally curly frizzy hair, it never looks shiny and cared for, just frizzy and dead. I yearn for shiny loose curls all over, but end up with frizz on top and at the ends and sort of flattened at the back Sad

Thanks for the link free. It does seem like a lot of products. Am tempted to try the don't blow it cream, but mixed reviews on the website.

Suppose I just wasn't expecting it, Lumpy. They are super hairy! No offence meant.

I use my straightening irons to make soft waves

Make my own salt spray which i put on after shower and then wave it when dry

I pretty much do the same as freebuttonbee. I dry my hair to almost dry, give each side a blast of hot air then twist in two section and clip with a clip or two. Wait to cool then let down and fluff up.
Either that or wash and condition hair before bed, sleep with damp hair and then roll out of bed. Sometimes it looks fine like this, but mostly I bend (not full curls) a few pieces with my straighteners.

Oh I only use one product at a time, not ten different things. The technique is the thing. The b&b stuff is pretty good. It's very light which I need as my hair is super fine and many styling products turn my hair to a greaseball. But am sure other stuff would work as well. There was a got2b 10in1 styling cream recommended recently that was v cheap.
