Please help... I'm losing my hair 😓

I'm not even 35 and noticed hair was thing slightly on one temple since Iv had the DC. Iv just noticed on the crown (flipping typical) I'm losing my hair, there's a bald spot which isn't being hidden by the hair that's there.... Iv always looked after my hair, heat protect it, deep condition each week etc. My hair is long, I can only cover it by annoying up dos I don't like. I'm going through a lot of stress and I'm taking that has made it this bad.... What can I do to bring it back?! My hair is my 'crowning glory' so to speak. I love my long hair 😓

Sorry to hear you are feeling like this.
However is this a recent thing or has it been ongoing. This time of year is anecdotally terrible for shedding hair. I swear a few post pop up Aug/Sept time every year.
Probably best to get iron levels checked - ferritin is the important one for hair. Then if it is low, iron, vit c and lysine. Google it - Lysine got my ferritin level up from 30 (should be 50) to 140 in about six months.

Have your hormone levels checked, you're balding (sorry to use the word) in a 'male' pattern which could indicate elevated testosterone levels.

Have your vitamin D levels checked too and get a supplement, it will help with hair regrowth.

Omega 3 supplements might be worthwhile too but my first stop would be the GP.

He will just say it's stress.... Life is really stressful at the moment. I take multi vits, I'm off to late night boots to get regaine for women. It's really noticable now. Was just bit thinner that I had to be careful if I out it in half up half down. Today is awful but I haven't noticed an increase in it falling out

It's most likely stress.
I had a 2cmsq of hair come out shortly after the birth of my dc3. It was right along my hairline at the front so I couldn't cover it up and it was awful. According to the hairdress there was another bit on my crown but I couldn't see that bit. However it did grow back in time.
It's horrible though Flowers

Go to the GP even if he/she does say 'it's stress'. They should definitely check your bloods. It might be treatable. Go!!

I have pcos and get this intermittently. Best course of action ime is: A good cut, if it's long it's own weight will weaken the roots. Feroglobin liquid iron and b vit supplement.
Change shampoo to something as natural as possible.
Condition only the ends. Conditioner at the roots can exacerbate fall.
Keep it clean, don't be fooled that over washing makes it fall, oily roots is worse.
If you dye it consider lush henna instead. Natural is better ime.
But honestly, cutting some weight out of it will be the best thing.

If it helps the worst time I had it was on honeymoon, came out in handfulls, I wept Sad

Worth checking what the actual test results are. My GP said my ferritin levels were fine, as they were within accepted range, but it was only 15, so actually very low.

My hair fell out when my ferritin was low, at the lowest it was 3. For years it hovered around the low 20s which is in the normal range but really low, should be nearer 70.

If you google trichologists (doctors that specialise in hair growth) they would indeed want ferritin levels to at least 70 if not over 100.
Iron, vit c and lysine was the key for me.
Change doctors if you don't think your doctor is taking you seriously. Hair loss can be very stressful and shouldn't be dismissed by a doctor.

If it doesn't sort itself out, OP, then I recommend contacting Philip Kingsley and seeing if you can book an appointment with them to find out what's going on, and a prescribed treatment. They are expensive. They are also very, very good.

As others have said def get vitamin levels checked. I also had scary hair loss but had v v low ferritin and haemoglobin levels. The hair loss really scared me as I thought it wouldn't stop. It stopped after 3 months though.

So it will be prob 2-3 weeks before I can get doc apt what do I do in the mean time? If it is this ferritin all they will do is give me iron? So if I take some liquid feraglobin mentioned by pp theoretically it would help? Otherwise it's just stress and I have to lump it?

In my case there was a reason for the low levels - coeliac disease so they should look at reasons. If your levels are low

I had bloods done about a month ago and the doctor requested very thorough fasting bloods, had about 6 vials (sp) full. Very long list, checked thyroid amongst other things as I bruise really really easily and in strange places. She didn't seem concerned about it.

7th July I had my bloods done.... Would they rapidly reduce that quick if I suddenly had issues with thyroid etc?

Sorry I missed your post saying you had already had thorough bloods. They would have checked your haemoglobin levels in that. They may or may not have checked for thyroid etc though. Do you know what they tested you for?

Report
Anothernamechanger1 · 19/08/2016 09:00

The list was massive! Thyroid was def checked as was iron. Iv got a telephone apt with doctor later and will ask what the levels were. I know they will say it's stress but Iv bought some feroglobin liquid anyway....

if iron/ferritin is low, then I doubt feroglobin will be strong enough. I had to take iron tablet (Ferrous Sulphate) for low ferritin (within range and GP said it's normal but it was just in range; sorting my ferritin levels made a huge difference).

Really? It has 14mg irony (100% of nrv) lysine is 80 mg. any idea what level you need then if that is all you 'need' normally? Did you not get constipated on high iron? Just wondering as Iv read that could happen?
