Help! Can't decide which of these two scarves to buy!

Very much a first world problem, but I'm in the market for a new silk scarf and can't decide between these two:

uk.hermes.com/la-maison-des-carres/carre-twill-100-soie-90cm-flanerie-a-versailles-bordeaux-p-98923.html

I love them both and was hoping you wise MN stylists could offer guidance and tell me which one you'd get to help me chose Smile

Definately the first.

The second would make a great rug pattern and conversational piece, but that's about all.

Both lovely but you can see where the extra 100 quid goes on the Hermes one as the print is so distinctive. The Beulah one doesn't look like its £170.

I don't like either as they'd not suit my colouring or go with any of my clothes.

What's yours?

On another note, I'm afraid I think they are a crazy price for a scarf. I could but never would pay that. I'd want a winter coat for around £250.

What colouring/tone are you? The first one is ok- if you have a neutral outfit then it will stand out, so it depends where you want people's eyes to be drawn. The second one, Hermes, I think its ghastly. Vulgar and garish, but depends what you are putting it with. If it was to tie your hair back with, whilst you wear white summer shorts and vest top, and you have olive or tanned skin, it would look fine. Have you looked at Liberty's collection?

Hermes. The other one doesn't look worth the money. You could get similar for £50.

I'm very fair skinned (think at the very paler end of the foundation spectrum) with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

I'm not really into Liberty prints. I like them but ultimately can't really see myself wearing them, no idea why as I'm usually very much a prints gal.

I notice the Hermes one seems to be dividing opinion Grin. I do see what a PP meant re. the Beulah one not looking much for the price...Mmm, decisions, decisions!

I love the Hermes one, so distinctive, real jewel colours. It would 'make' your outfit whatever you wore with it. The first one as others have said doesn't look so worth the money, you could find the same for cheaper.

I really dislike the Hermes one. I don't like the print at all. I agree that the first one is really lovely but doesn't look £175.

Sorry, I'm not sure that's very helpful! All my scarves come from to maxx though, so I'm probably not the right person to comment.

I think the colouring is so different. I'm struggling to see someone easily suit them both tbh.

I don't like the first at all but the colouring isn't mine at all.

The second is ok but I'm not a massive fan of the clashing pink and red.

Have you looked at Lily and Lionel? They do some lovely scarves that are in that sort of price bracket but are a bit more modern than the two you have posted:

I also like We are Owls:

I have a Hermes scarf. They are very bright, I like it. I suppose it depends what you're going to wear with it?

If you're fair skinned, I'm not sure the red is right for you? The Hermes one is striking, my favourite out of those two. Without seeing your complexion it's difficult to say what would be best for you though. Have you considered having a consultation with a Colour Me Beautiful consultant to find your perfect colours?
