Autumn/Winter - what will you be wearing?

So now that it's officially autumn (kinda) and the weather has been crap here today what do you think you'll be wearing this autumn and winter?

Inspire me before I spend yet another winter wearing skinny jeans, ankle boots and slouchy knits

Are boyfriend jeans doable in winter? (I normally wear mine rolled up and I'm not a fan of cold ankles!)

It's August not Autumn.

Thanks for the helpful reply Confused. I'm aware that it's August...which is the start of Autumn according to my hazily remembered primary school education

I can't take the sun and love autumn clothes so it can't start too soon for me!

I'm bored of tube skirts and skinnies and, for the first time in years, I'm thinking about real trousers again. But I've not worked out the shape or the footwear yet. I like the cropped length but, like you, I've no intention of going bare ankled in the winter. So going to try some with flat ankle boots and dig out my 20 year old doc martin high tops and see how silly I look. It'll need different shape tops too. This is why we need to start planning early Wink

Yep no change here either, clean, tidy and appropriate is what I aim at whatever time of the year. Fashion - meh.

No use fighting it Dubious.
Yesterday I saw my first conker of the year.
Today I woke up at 4 o' clock and it was still dark.
It's a-coming Smile

Floisme actually I love Autumn. My absolute favourite time of year in every way.

But, you know, in the actual Autumn.

But Dubious the thinking ahead and planning is the best part.

Ok I know I'll probably look a tit in ankle length trousers and boots but for now, in my head, I look fantastic Grin

Cait I'm guessing you're Irish...that Celtic calendar thing drives me mad! I grew up with it and my kids still trot it out. No kids, Feb 1st is not spring, May 1st is not summer and Aug 1st is not autumn!
clings to summer

I am so excited about autumn clothes!
I'll still be in my skinny jeans tucked cosily into my boots, but am planning a peacoat this year rather than the cocoony shapes of last year. Just need to find a navy or forest green one with a narrow double breast to suit my wide shouldered proportions.

Yes - Irish, never knew there was a different Celtic calendar for the seasons. Anyway it was 15 degrees and wet here yesterday so I'm not feeling particularly summery anymore...

I have a rare opportunity for some childfree shopping next week so wanted some inspiration. I'm certainly not buying anymore summer gear at this stage

It was never Summer here to begin with, was it Cait? Wink I think I wore my summer wardrobe for approximately two weeks last May Sad so yes, yes to Autumn/Winter shopping. I'm hitting the shops tomorrow unfortunately not child free

I love dresses, knits over skinny jeans, ankle boots, Gillettes (sp)? 😂 colours like burgundy, darker tones etc. Might put a few darker low lights in my hair as well.

I love autumn clothes but usually try to hold out until autumn half-term, unless everybody else brings out theirs!

Black, grey, silver, cream, burgundy, muted pink, work clothes probably revolving round my "invisible" black trousers (ie nicely cut so they go with everything) and black cord skirt, out-of-work maybe some patched/customised black jeans (I'll do my own, the ones I've seen and liked are way too expensive) and big jumpers in soft natural textures. Looking forward to breaking out my long black boots and classic longish black coat that was a TKMaxx bargain last year, but that's more late autumn/winter. In the interim my cream bodywarmer may be coming out.

Same as last year, skinny jeans, long sleeve cotton tops, I can't stand knitwear, makes me feel hot and itchy, even cashmere. Trainers or boots.

I didn't wear a coat until January (Dead Hard ,Me ) due to hot flushes.

I'm looking for black velour cords (I bought navy ones from M&S but missed the black ones)
Lots of jumpers

I saw jumpers and cashmere in M&S last week..............................Grin

Seriously thinking about skirts. Swishy just-above-the-ankle ones; maybe pleated ones; definitely a chiffon one. Desperately want some three-strap pumps too. Tights, or even socks, are friends to the ankle-gap in skirts in a way that they're not with trousers. However tops are the pin that punctures my skirt-fantasy balloon as I am large-busted and short-waisted and just look like a barrel from the hips up.

Well it's getting cooler in the day, and darker in the evenings, and the shops are bringing in Autumn wear so I guess we can start thinking about it.
I'm thinking GAP skinny ankle pants, Boden longer line vest/tank tops, Next forever comfort suede court shoes and a variety of cardigans. Will throw in a few long sleeve Bretons too. I bought myself a lovely navy pea coat from Next in January that I haven't had a chance to wear yet (bought pre-pregnancy size. Almost back into it!) so looking forward to getting that out.
So apart from swapping my skinny jeans to skinny trousers, and flats to heels (who am I kidding, I'll be back in flats before the leaves start falling), same as every year

Autumn clothes are my favourites.

I've spent the last twenty five years or so wearing black jeans and black turtle necks, or black opaques and a black mini skirt in Autumn, so I'll probably be wearing more of the same, at least some of the time.

Other than that, I plan to wear a little more colour, if any of the shops decide to do any decent red stuff. I'd like a red pleated midi skirt. Ohh and I 'need' at least three pairs of new ankle boots!

I was taught that August is the start of Autumn too Cait. It's obviously an Irish thing! I'm planning on getting some real trousers this A/W to wear outside of work! I also like dresses with tights,

Need to buy a nice coat for this winter too.

Love Autumn. The best season for clothes imo. I'm already starting to look but haven't seen anything yet. Definitely going to get a new leather jacket but waiting until there's more choice. Shouldn't have too long to wait.

With respect to the Celtic seasons August is still summer, September is Autumn. Although I'm in Northern England so won't be waiting until half term to get the opaques back out.

I love Autumn too Smile

I have some new tan boots to wear, a couple of dresses for work (with the boots, don't do dresses otherwise), a nice cream jumper.

Just need to find some wide leg casual & work trousers and I'm there.
