Make up help please! Ill non-make up wearer going to a wedding

I'm going to a wedding next weekend and currently wear no make up at all. I don't have the energy, knowledge or funds for full make up for one day, but just want to look a bit brighter and more polished - I have ME, I'll be using my mobility scooter, the wedding is of friends of my boyfriend and I don't know anyone else so I just want to look as good as I can.

I have dry patches and red patches and oily patches, and hyperpigmentation from spots that are now pretty much under control. Very dark patches under my eyes, not sure if anything could be done about them.

I've been googling and thought maybe some oil free 'BB cream' and something like the maybelline baby lips coloured balm stuff. Would that be right? enough? Do my eyes need anything? Would I need any colour on the BB cream? Where do you put BB cream - eye lids and under eyes too?

I'm having a scoot around a shopping centre this weekend - can get to boots, superdrug etc - but need to know what I'm looking for...

I'll bung some nail polish on my fingernails, toes too if I wear sandals (still need shoes...)

Any help would be great please!! Thanks.

Perhaps a special hair do, some pretty jewellery, a comfortable but smart outfit.

A smile and a bit of lip balm. Beige face paint is uncomfortable if you aren't used to it and is a huge FAFF - I've long.stopped bothering.

Enjoy your day!

If you ask, a lot of brands with make up counters will suggest a shade of foundation and give you a sample to try. If you're only wearing it for one day the sample might be enough. Estee Lauder gave me enough of their double wear light to last nearly a week.

specialsubject - thanks, that would be the easiest way to go, and possibly best. I've actually made the dress (been learning to sew for a while and it's been a nice project for the last couple of months, just need to hem it and the matching shrug now), so I know it fits and is comfy and I think it looks nice...

burnishedsilver - also a great idea, thanks. I'll have a look around the beauty counters too and see if I can get and samples (and ideas) then I'll have more options.

Tbh, if its hyperpigmentation and dark circles, then just buy concealer. You can put it everywhere you need in decent sized stripes and just use your fingers to blend any edges. Handier than BB cream and covers much much more.

Theres a really cheap one by Collection (called Lasting Finish) thats amazing. Just dont put concealer over your eyelids as its too emollient and tends to crease unnattractively. I'd honestly leave them bare unless they're very discoloured, in which case just buy the first cheap wheat coloured eyeshadow you come across.

Just do a test with the concealer before cos as with all things where you're obliterating a lot of the darkness, sometimes when you're done you look like a ghost. A flawless ghost perhaps, but a bit too blank regardless! In which case you have to add a bit of blusher (the wee roundy Bourjois ones are pretty, hard to mess up, and come with a brush in the back. If in doubt as to colour, go for peachy pink rather than true pink - its softer)

But maybe you'll be fine and wont need anything else.

If you've got dry patches I'd go about trying to get them sorted out - lots of thick moisturiser. Maybe some face masks - I find honey is very good for my skin. Obviously quite sticky, so I just smear some on then read a book in the bath.

What's your colouring? I wouldn't wear mascara if you're not used to it, but if your eyelashes are pale or fade towards the tips, could you get them tinted?
And do you pluck your eyebrows? I don't wear make up on a day to day basis but find that having tidy eyebrows makes my whole face look tidier. I get mine threaded and would recommend that. Just get them done a few days in advance and ask the threader not to overdo it.
That's assuming you live somewhere where it would be easy to find someone who does threading of course.

Thanks LimpidPools my eyebrows have never been touched (I'm nearly 33 Blush) and I'm not sure that's an avenue I want to go down. Eyelashes are nice and dark. Sorting the dry patches is a very good idea - it's the anti spot stuff that causes them, I'll try and moisturise more as well over the next week and cut down on the effaclar duo a little.

That's not a cause for embarrassment - it should probably be a relief because it means you've never mauled them. No need to touch them then.

Good luck with the moisturising regime!
