I think it probably depends how long you are storing it for and whether you need it to be in perfect condition when you take it out or you're keeping it purely as a momento

Mines in a bin bag in the garage
However I'm just getting divorced so probably not as keen to keep it nice as you are !
Acid free paper and a smart box sounds fine
