What to wear to a graduation ceremony?

It's not mine, I'm going as a guest. It is being held in a theatre if that makes a difference. I was thinking this but not sure if it's a bit wedding-y?
Added bonus that it's in the sale

I'd say that was fine. Lovely dress.

I saw a graduation ceremony today and that is perfect
Loads of people looked very wedding-y tbh , it's the done thing to dress up

You can honestly wear anything. You will see women in casual trousers and tops, posh dresses, posh suits, mother of the bride and everything in between. If anything, I'd dress down a little rather than up. I went to both DCs and for the first I wore a 'nice' dress and cardi over it and for the 2nd (cold wet day) a wool knee length skirt, top and smart coat. Really don't worry but be prepared for all weathers.

Oh good, thank you! I'm looking forward to having an excuse to dress up - plus a champagne reception after!

Where is the champagne being served? just watch out for it being outside in a marquee. Also think about shoes- skinny heels will be a PITA if the reception is on the lawns which they often are.

Oh good point Polly. I'll be wearing flats because I have a foot injury but might need to think about hanging around outside. Perhaps I should look for a little cardi to wear with it, what colour would you suggest?

I think lilac like the colour in the dress would work but might be hard to match. Or the deeper blue. Failing that a neutral like ivory.

Thanks Polly. Could only find Navy, might be a bit dark but will be able to wear it with other stuff.
On phone so not sure if link will work but it's this one here

Just to echo what everyone has said - practically anything and everything goes. Your dress is lovely, and will be perfect.

I wore a black jumpsuit which was a bit of a tactical error as every time I needed the loo I had to practically get naked. And not only that, I had to enlist the help of kind women to undo me and then do me up again! It looked alright though!

Have a great time.
