first world problem I know - need inspiration for a new wedding ring.

I am planning on changing my wedding ring (to coincide with a signficant wedding anniversary)as I have just never really liked it that much (which I do feel bad about). I would quite like to buy a vintage ring or use my current wedding ring and get it changed into something different.

I need some inspiration and I wondered if people would describe their wedding ring or post photos for me? I still cant' decide if I want a plain band and then maybe buy a diamond type band to go with it or if I would like just one ring with diamonds in it. I currently just wear one ring. Can you get diamond bands/rings that you can wear alone as a wedding ring? I don't have an engagment ring as I didn't want one but now i am old i do fancy some tasteful bling
Self indulgent thread I know but anything is better than brexit right now

How about an engraved ring? There are some lovely patterns and it wouldn't get damaged by wearing it all the time.

Maybe look on pinterest to see what appeals to you.

I bought an eternity ring to use as a wedding ring.

Much cheaper than diamond studded wedding rings as they just seem to double the price for putting "wedding" in the name.

It's very sparkly and I do love it. It looks good on its own. But I wouldn't get one with diamonds all the way around cos even though they look gorgeous, they're hard to resize. Mine had 12 diamonds so from the top it looks like it's full, but it's plain underneath.

It's white gold which is cheaper than platinum and since there's damn all metal showing, I don't have to bother dipping it that often.

It's also channel set rather than pronged, so never snags on anything.

Mine basically looks exactly like this.

That looks lovely! I had wondered about the difference between eternity rings and diamond wedding bands. My suspicions have been confirmed that the word wedding indeed just hoikes up the price Shock.

Even typing this post helped me realise I do want 'just' one ring. I like the simplicity of one ring. I wonder if a jeweller would be able to use the white gold from my current ring and then I buy diamonds separately to make a ring?? I will need to look into this. I feel sad not using my original ring for anything. That is a good tip as well about not having diamonds all the way round.

I will look at engraved rings too. Thanks!

Tbh you'll prob find that much more expensive. Labour & diamonds won't be cheap.

From a purely practical standpoint you'd almost certainly spend less buying off the shelf if you shopped around for sales but by all means do your research.

I just wear one ring. I was given some stones and had some removed from my original engagement ring which id gone off but liked the stones... Anyway it's expensive to do it this way but I had a custom made ring (have a look at Harriet kelsall) which won't be to everyone's taste but is very me....

You can use metals from original rings too...

pamplemousee thanks for the suggestion. I can see that it is going to be more expensive because of labour costs but I could maby be able to use other rings too that are in my family. Your ring is gorgeous too.

keep the suggestions coming. I need the post brexit distraction.

I think you should get a gorgeous blingy new ring and save your wedding ring for doing the washing up/gardening/swimming. This will be much less hassle and assuage your guilt.

If I were only going to have one ring, I'd get a diamond eternity but throw in another stone to liven it up. Sapphire is my favourite at the moment.

My own wedding ring is very plain - 2mm platinum. It looks nice with my engagement ring (square cut diamond solitaire). I wish I'd chosen something more exciting, but I'd blown all our money on the wedding. One day I'd like a princess cut channel set eternity ring to go with it.

Thank you for your ideas and sharing photos. I am thinking a simple eternity ring but with sparkly diamonds would suit me most as i am not a blingy glam type (sadly!). I do like the idea of maybe one other stone in it. I think getting a ring made for me might be out of budget. I may raid any family rings to wear on my other hand.

I have this one. Probably shouldn't wear it all the time, but do.

This is my engagement and wedding ring. I don't have the third one with 5 stones yet but I'm hoping it will be added one daySmile

You could use your existing ring to make something like mine - yellow gold outer with yellow, white and rose gold within.

Thanks for all the photos.

HopeArden in think I might be wanting something like your ring. Was that a wedding ring or eternity ring? It looks lovely worn on its own like that. I am glad I have begun to narrow it down!

It was an eternity ring. I have a plain band as a wedding ring but I usually wear my engagement, wedding and eternity rings all the time.

My eternty ring was from Crouch's and even though I have worn it every day for about 12 years I have never had any loose stones or damage but I do vaguely remember a jeweller saying that it shouldn't be worn for doing the cleaning etc.

This is my eternity ring but you could definitely wear it as a wedding ring. It gets lots of compliments...I prefer it to to my wedding ring

My engagement and wedding rings were made by the London Victorian Ring Company.

www.london-victorian-ring.com/

They use vintage designs but the rings are all new. My engagement ring is an Edwardian design and the wedding ring is a platinum band with diamonds set into it. I love them both!

How about getting one made? I had my wedding ring made by a lady in California that sells on esty, she helped me design mine and got the fitting spot on even with my difficult sided engagement ring. It cost me £750 but was worth every penny, she even colour matched the gold and stones, you would never be able to tell that it wasn't a set.

But it's American, so you pay import duty & VAT on top. After DH ordered it I did think it might be cheaper to have gone to a designer, but I'd seen it and loved it and life was all a bit shit so wanted go get it sorted.
I was googling the other day and found some similar, so worth a look it you like them.
