For some insane reason I decided it would be a good idea to go to Ibiza for my 40th birthday with DH and some friends, kids are staying with my parents. Any tips on what to take much appreciated. Am size 14 and a bit wobbly. Will be going to a couple of clubs and a beach club (what have I done?!)

It probably depends on the club. Amnesia can be baking hot on a busy night so I revealed a lot more skin than I would have normally ( e.g knee length no sleeve dress - I'm far too old and wobbly to get away with less) to get the benefit of the ice cannons. I stopped wearing sandals to busy clubs as I hated being trodden on. Oh yeah. Really deep pockets as you will be fucking amazed at how much a drink will cost in some of the clubs. 10 EUR for beer or water 18 EUR for a spirit and mixer approximately, depending on the club.

I was a 14 when I was going at 20 years old, wear what you feel comfortable in and boogie the night away

I'm thinking for the clubs, some sort of flimsy floaty top or camisole and dress it up with some funky jewellery. Hair up if possible and bum bags are now popular again or little cross body bags if you want to be on your feet dancing.. It gets so hot in the busy clubs, you may find you've sweated out a stone before you leave Smile
It will be people of all sizes and ages. Have a great holiday.

Assuming you're going June-Aug it will be hot, hot, hot. Currently approaching 30 degrees.

Don't feel you have to dress up unless you're going to the fancy pants bars and clubs (we did a mix). Casual jersey dresses and trainers are fine for Space or similar.
Don't attempt heels. Just don't.

I lived in bikins under casual short summer dresses during the day and a mix of casual playsuits/short, loose dresses in the evening. All with flat-ish sandals. Saw lots of people in loose beach cover ups at restaurants during day.

Contrary to popular belief it isn't full of only young people if you avoid San Antonio. The more you spend, the older/better behaved the crowd. KM5 is a really lovely grown up bar.

And do get utterly wasted on at least one night. If it can't do that in Ibiza you can't do it anywhere. Grin

Yeah for Ibiza at 40! I think glitzy is good, the clubs and bars can be glamorous. I'd wear a glitzy top with lightweight jeans and flat jewelled sandals. A tiny leather cross body bag for keeping your bits in... And lots of money.
It's a fun place! Personally I like the glitz so do dress up... But I avoid heels as the nights can be loooong

aah thanks all ! We're doing a mix of things, sunset ashram one night, then Pascha, Blue Marlin Club and Ushuaia and there is talk of Space on Sunday afternoon (I WILL BE COMPLETELY BROKEN BY THIS POINT)

Think I will buy the following -
new trainers
cross body bag
some sort of floaty dress / beach cover up thing

I REALLY want to do this for my 40th next year but I don't know anyone who will come with me. Where are you staying?

hi feesh, we have got a villa via Air BnB - sleeps 14, and is in the hills outside San Antonio. There aren't many that allow bookings for less than a week so we got lucky! Worked out at £114 pp for 3 nights.
