What's your monthly spend on clothes, makeup, accessories etc and are you ok with that?

I try to set myself a budget of no more than £200 and struggle! I know i am a shopaholic, even more so a saleaholic once the sales are on it's like a red rag to a bull. That's on anything appearance related, so clothes, shoes, makeup, skincare, hair, accessories, bags etc.

I do seem to buy a lot of clothes, due to weight loss/ gain I never seem to be the same size season to season so I often end up with a wardrobe of different sizes. And I am a sucker for expensive makeup - somehow I never seem to get along with the cheap stuff, probably psychological!

Is that amount a lot? or a reasonable amount? I know it depends on income etc but just interested whether other people spend a similar amount.

Inc hair/make up/clothes/odd treatment mine is probably £125pmid like to spend more but any afford it.

That equates to one item of clothing,treatment, haircut every 8 weeks and mid range make up every now and again.

about £20. no, not comfortable with it. but I manage as i cannot afford more. I shop work cloth in new look an HM. my clothes are mainly charity shop and I cut my own hair. so it is doable on a tight budget.

Between 20 to 40. I buy from charity shops and asda my friend cuts my hair and I dye it. Never buy make up or skin care stuff as my mum treats me to nice stuff I could never afford for my birthday and christmas and I make it last. Do I like it? No hate it, I would love to get my nails done, hair done properly or buy nice clothes like eveyone else seems too but I have 3 teenage kids and work part time due to ill health and its all I can afford. Many months that spend is zero if things are tight

I have a budget of £200 per month on clothes. No limit on beauty products/hair. I never spend the whole amount, I go through spending binges at the start of Spring and again at the start of Autumn. I very quickly reach peak stuff and don't bother for a few months.

This year I've spent an average of about £20 per month plus a £40 haircut.

But I'm trying pretty hard not to spend much as I'm on mat leave. I've made about £50 selling clothes too.

Last year I spent more like £70 a month.

I buy high end make up but rarely buy foundation, and have so many blushers and lipsticks and eyeshadows they'll keep me going for years. My eyebrow stuff from Laura Mercier lasts about 2 years! Mascara I buy Max Factor which is less than £10 and one will last me 6 months.

I realised buying clothes and especially make up was a bit of a hollow pleasure tbh, and now only buy something if I have a real need and it's significantly better than what I already own. I have about 7 or 8 lipsticks in almost identical shade, that's probably £150 worth!

My budget means I have to plan my purchases. So, I make a note of what I need and will take my time in finding what I want. I don't often make mistakes and wear my clothes for a long time.

I'm comfortable with my budget and if I could afford to increase it, I'd probably end up wasting the money through bad purchases.

To go back to your question is it a lot - all depends on context. If I was spending £200 in primark every month I'd think that's a serious problem. Buying one beautiful cashmere jumper for £200 that you'll have for years makes more sense.

Also as long as you can pay for everything else you need and save a bit too, and it's truly disposable income, I'd say it's a lot but not TOO much.

I don't spend a lot on clothes tbh but I could easily spend £200+ on my hair. I probably spend over £100 pe month on it as an average.

I usually buy one item of clothes a month and replace make up only when it is running out. I do spend quite a lot on my nails and hair products though. I'd reckon about £100/150 all in.

About £200 a month for everything, tops (am self employed so sometimes it's a bit less). It's fine, but ideally I'd like a bit more - I buy some expensive stuff and bulk out from (generally) H&M, and I could afford more at the expensive end if it was closer to £300. Although probably then I'd want £400, then £500 and so on! Almost all my make up and skincare is at the moderately expensive end of things, and I would always prioritise that as I have hugely combination skin (greasy acne chin and neck, very dry cheeks and nose) and shit skin makes me feel awful no matter how good my clothes.

I once tracked my clothing/bag/shoe spend over a year and it was about £1k total. I earn more now so maybe 1200-1500 ish. It isn't every month though - this year I have bought 2 leather jackets over £200 each but before that I hadn't bought one since 2008. I would say I buy a couple of expensive things a year and then have a few spendy days. Makeup and hair is pretty low as I tend to get it as gifts and only really wear eye makeup.

I have £200 a month to spend on myself - clothes, make up and whatever. Haircuts come out of the family "pot". I think I am very lucky to have so much and am a real feast or famine spender. Can go a couple of months spending very little and then have a splurge. Am a better buyer these days and so have less crap lying around unworn - also tend to buy slightly better quality, though that only means high end high street!

This is a mixture of about 100 make up, 300 on hair and a few large clothing or shoe purchases

I tend to spend £10 on eyebrow threading each month, £10 on haircuts (a cut every two months alternating between a very good stylist and a student) around £90 a year on make-up, £200 a year on shoes and probably a maximum of £150 on clothes. I haven't bought any clothes yet this year, but I need a new sports bra, so that will be around 30.

I would like to spend a bit more, but I prefer to have minimal stuff, and quite like getting eBay and charity shop bargains, so it would probably not be a huge amount more. I tend to buy things I love and wear them until they start falling to pieces.

I don't have a monthly spend, I buy make-up etc when I need it, have my hair trimmed every 8 weeks.
I buy clothes when I feel like it which isn't that often as I hate shopping online and big shopping centres. I don't have a budget which is good as I like sometimes expensive and reasonable quality clothes, but expect them to last. I can't stand primark and supermarket clothes. I usually have a big shop at the begining of Autumn and then buy bits over the year as I see them.

Too bloody much, but I don't have children (sadly), I have good pension provision, I make sure I save a certain amount each month and DH and I work hard. So I think, "why the hell not?".

In January, when the sales are on and I can pick up good quality stuff from MaxMara, Missoni etc., I could easily spend £1,000 on clothes and shoes. Other months, probably £200 to £400.

It looks horrendous written down. Luckily I'm not a handbag fiend.

I don't have a budget as such but probably spend around £60ish per month; this year I am challenging myself to only buy from charity shops - I have loads of lovely designer labels - I hate spending money on my hair - probably only get it done twice a year and try to find a 'model' night or similar. Fortunately I don't have expensive tastes in make up.

65 on some fly london boots off amazon (they are £140 new, i will need a pair come autumn)
10 on some posh liz earle hair conditioner
25 on bodyshop facial oil and massage roller
A brand new m and s cashmere cardigan that I got off ebay for £30
An oasis dress second hand off ebay that I've been looking for for ages for £9
A waterproof mac for £15 that I will need for a festival next month
I also have my eye on a dress in the debenhams sale (£25) which I have ordered to try on, but won't say I've bought it yet as it may not fit.

Of those I'd say the waterproof mac and boots are things I actually need, the rest is just stuff I've bought because I want it.

I think it's more the bargain hunting I'm addicted to than the actual buying of something.
It's lots of little things rather than a few big things, mainly online sales or ebay.
Quite often I will order things and then send them back if they don't fit or I change my mind... our house is like a goods depot some days when the postman calls!

On the one hand I can afford it but on the other I can't as I'm trying to pay down some credit card debt, since getting married earlier in the year.

I do ebay a lot of stuff and am quite good at getting deals and getting a lot for my money but then I do tend to buy a lot too!

Well if it makes you feel better today I have spent £105 getting my hair done, £26.50 replacing my favourite lipsticj, £8 on eyebrow waxing and £20 on a skirt and patterned trousers from Tesco.

In the next few days I will also buy a dress or a top I have my eye on in m and s (same thing but available as a top or the full dress) so that will either be £20 or £45 depending what I decide.

I'm almost out of foundation so there's about £30 again. I need Aussie 3 minute miracle so hopefully I can get that on a 3 for £10 deal somewhere.

Apart from hair I don't buy many individually prices items but it adds up to more than I had realised

Hair is the one thing I don't spend a lot on though - a £15 cut every two months and a £5 home hair dye = £20 per two months, I can spend more on one item of expensive makeup than I do on cutting and colouring my hair!

I live in a town with really awful, unfashionable shops with clothes that just aren't me. Online shopping isn't massively popular yet here either and it costs a fortune in customs to bring in stuff from abroad.

If I was back in the UK, probably £200 or so a month. I have a real online shopping addiction.

Now I go back once a year, I can easily spend £600 on hair, clothes etc, but I tend to offset that by making £300 selling my old stuff on eBay and saving birthday money etc.

I can justify £600 a year rather than £1200.
