Looking for a Nude Wireless and Unpadded Bra Please

Dunno whether it's my age or not, but I'm finding the underwire and padded look too uncomfortable, so have been wearing wireless and unpadded for the past year. Now it's summer, I want to wear clothes that are a bit see-through and nude's my best option. But where to find them, I don't know. I'm sure everyone thinks I'm being "daring" if I wear a coloured bra underneath my tops, but honestly that's not the look I want to be perceived at!

NB. I don't like crop-tops as they're usually padded and they have vest-like straps so not elegant at all!

The bralet thing that Hush sells? Can't remember if it comes in nude though.

I have a couple of these from M&S www.marksandspencer.com/smoothing-lace-wing-non-wired-full-cup-a-e-bra/p/p22352865?prevPage=plp and they're pretty comfy and supportive. I've stopped wearing wired bras as I find them uncomfortable and don't like or need extra padding.

Gap Body range do some nice wireless bras. Even some quite pretty ones. Unless you can get to a massive store like Oxford Street I would suggest looking online.

Their delivery is usually free if you order enough so you can order plenty, try on in comfort and return what doesn't fit.

Seconding Gap. Also have a couple of nice ones from Gilly Hicks (bralette-esque so def more suited to the smaller boobed i would think, so not sure if thats good for you OP.)

Words i took the OP to mean nude the colour (i.e. beige) rather than nude see-through, if thats whats causing you to boggle!

Oh no, not see-through, but flesh-toned as in 'nude'. A lot of summer tops these days are wide at the neck and in thinner fabric like silk etc. so I would want something discrete so as to not show my boobage nor my bra straps. Unfortunately, I'm a 36-38C so am definitely in need of proper support but I don't really care too much as no-one's seeing me in the nud anyway!

The usual question - are you sure of your size? It might well be that you're in the wrong size if bras are so uncomfortable. Check out some of the bra intervention threads on here.

No, I haven't, but it may be that I'm guessimating the new size that I thought I was as I'm gained weight in the past 15mths. It was originally 34C but thinking I would need a 36C. Maybe, I'm a D cup after all. (no, I don't remember how to measure as it's been so long since I learnt that). I'm wearing a new bra now, but the boobage is spilling over and it's not a good look, I know. Plus the straps keep falling down despite fixing them earlier...

Ok overspill plus straps falling down mean you need a smaller band and a bigger cup - bear in mind that in terms of cup volume 38c=36d=34dd so remember to adjust for that

No, don't just try on those sizes - you need to get a tape measure out, but google the Better Bra Campaign first so you know what you're doing.

When I was a size 14-16 I was a 34, but now I have gone down to a size 12 I am a 32, just FYI (successful bra intervention convert!). I used to think I was a 36A but now I am a 32DD!

No I'm not saying those are what you need to try - just pointing out that cup size is proportonal to band size to a d cup on a 30 band is very much smaller than a d on a 40 band. So when you go down in the band size to sort out the fact that your straps are falling down then you would need to adjust your cup size upwards just to keep the same tit holding capacity. Then you most probably need to go up even further to rectify the fact that your cups are currently too small

You need to measure under your bust, pulling the tape quite firmly - that is the bra band measurement (none of this "add 4 inches" nonsense that M&S etc still do). If you're between sizes, then probably size down. Then measure around your boobs while leaning forward. This might sound awful (or did to me at least!) but go with it!

Then for every inch that measures more than your underbust measurement, go up a cup size - it starts at an A cup for 1" more and goes: A,B,C,D,DD,E,F,FF,G,GG,H,HH,J,JJ,K,KK,L... The bra size you get will then be your starting point for trying a load of new bras. Bravissimo may be your best bet. You may need to try a few different styles and a few sizes around your starting point to get your perfect bra.

If you post your measurements, then the MN bra gurus will help you! Or you can work it out yourself if you prefer.

Also don't forget to "scoop" as described in the link - it makes a massive difference.

It might seem like a hassle - but, really, it's so worth it.

Just to let you know how I got on. After speaking to a lingerie staff at Marks about the last size I thought I was, which was a 36C they suggested a 38B. The band was good but the cup was a bit loose so I ended up with a 36B!!!! O M G I hadn't realised that I hadn't gone up in the band but only in the cup but only slightly. For the past 10 years, I've been wearing a C cup and had guestimated all along without going about the sizing properly. (I was a 34B in my 20s).

Thanks to you all for giving me some ideas about getting myself sized up... it has been a revelation!

I hate to tell you this but M&S are absolutely appalling at fitting. You're probably nothing like a 36B if that's what they put you in.

To give you an idea, I test shopped them. I was a well fitted 30HH and they tried to put me in a 36F.
