Everyone I think I love you! Thanks...

Shop thanks for new thread. Love the hat. I wonder if your old J crew one was the panama I have, such a great hat. Neon green is better though Grin

Omg I can't handle this. Why did they schedule them for the same day Grin

Yes that's the hat but mine has the black ribbon!

NAP order done... (beware people, it defaulted to the £8 NDD charge at checkout!)

Vanessa Seward jeans - fingers crossed these are my perfect jeans, ridiculously high rise, smooth fabric rather than rough denim, and leg lengthening but can only be worn with high heels.
And
Sam E sandals - never got around to owning Gigis, but have been after a nice pair of tan sandals for years, and also an embellished pair. So should tick 3 boxes!

Looking forward to hearing about everyone else's buys :)

blair no worries! You were quick with your orders! Nice sandals.

So many sales starting. Just had previews for coast and warehouse. It's a dangerous time for me as I get swayed by a bargain rather than thinking about what I actually want / need. Probably by the time I decide everything I want will be sold out in my size...

Marking my place as missed most of the last thread!

Nice items Blair, lots of lovely sandals on there, needs to just stop raining so I can wear some.

marking my place too

pulled a dress out of the wardrobe that still had tags on it. it's nice, cap sleeves, knee length blue with white polka dots and has a sweetheart neckline. not sure about the bow on the neckline, i may unpick that and re-purpose it for something else

nothing's grabbing me sales wise which is probably wise as i do need to save for my impending cross country move. the move has been delayed for an unknown time period as we try to find somewhere to live as dp's current abode doesn't allow couples and it's just taking longer than we thought to find somewhere decent and affordable

Has been a long day - head not too bad after last night, I alternated glasses of water with glasses of wine but I am tired.

Disciplined response to the NaP sale. A dress I had my eye on sold out in my size so I just ordered an Isabel Marant tan belt as I have wanted one ever since I saw Shop's. Sticking to my list Smile

Might sound like a dumb question, but to those of you that have sale wish lists how do you create them??
I'm getting better about only buying things that will go with other things unless a whole new outfit is required for a particular event etc but couldn't tell you what gaps I have. I've far less clothes than this time last year but still too many and I seem to wear the same things a lot and leave other stuff unworn. I still (and have tried not to) keep new things for occasions rather than just wearing them to work or when I want to. My work is very casual, didn't used to be but has got more and more so even at a senior level and I WFH a lot so this is meaning too much time in jeans!
Think I need a change of mindset to get more wear out of what I have and clear out stuff I don't really like or wear. Does that need a complete review of my wardrobes, trying it all on though??

A few ways...

  1. Pinterest - throughout the season I pin things I can't afford or don't want to pay fp for, on a secret board of course Wink. Towards the end of the season, pretty much everything I like the look of goes here. Then I can review it and see what I still want.
  2. Spreadsheets - I actually have one called wardrobe gaps, with a list of types of clothes and accessories and then columns for wants and needs. If I am getting dressed in the morning and think "I could really do with one of those" I will add it to the "need" list. If I just fancy something I'll put it in "want" and might remove it after a while. I have other lists of things that I know do and don't suit me, etc, which helps me be more specific with sale wants.
  3. Pinterest again - I'm actually really proud this week, because I went through my main ideas board, where I have pinned things I like the look of for the last 4 years. I repinned everything that I hadn't bought but felt I'd missed out on (to another secret board). A very clear theme emerged, so it's obvious to me that those are the items I need to look out for in future.

Basically for me it's a time investment, but while I'm still child free I'm going to do it because I like it :)
Totally realise I'm sad but I don't care!

I ordered this to go with my white skirt. I'm not buying anything else now until July!

viva i have a similar approach to Blair but less organised! I pin things I like to a secret board too and then review it every so often and delete things that no longer appeal. I have a few sheets of paper just on my jewellery box and I make a note if I realise I need something.

I have no system. I just see things and buy them.

Probably why my wardrobe is about as coherent as Shaun Ryder.

i'm much the same as Amber and just buy things as i see and love them. i spend a bit more on accessories usually, currently i'm collecting different colours of the McQueen razor bracelets, i really love them and love wearing them. they are somewhat symbolic for me so i find they are more than just fashion to me. otherwise i just buy things at random and work out what goes with what afterwards. I have a somewhat eccentric look i suppose

Need to catch up on here. Went on my phone and MNV wasn't one of "ones I'm on"
How did that happen?

We had a lovely day at tennis despite the rain. I took Blingys advice and wore lots of layers and jeans and was so glad I did. There were quite a few women in strapped sundresses and killer heels looking purple with cold during the torrential downpours.

Going to try and catch up with what I've missed. No great S&B news. Trying to avoid the sales and resultant spending.

I used to have way too much stuff, had to keep non seasonal stuff in 2 cases in the loft but then realised with our weather as it is some things are needed all year. Had a massive sort about a year ago and now everything fits in my storage, although I do have a lot of storage, but that was a step in the right direction.
I think I need to find time to go through everything and try on and hopefully I'll find some things that I've just forgotten I like and then get rid of things I'll probably never wear.
I really struggle with the casual approach at work as my wardrobe really just morphs into one and on the odd day I have a face to face client meeting I really struggle.
I do know is like some black 7/8ths for work as with a lot of tops I have I could be smart/casual and probably not need to buy anything else for work until Winter.

My approach is a bit mixed -this year I identified several gaps in terms of basics like a Black cardi, navy cardi etc and have been buying those but I also purchase a lot of stuff that I just like regardless of whether I need it or not! I think it's because some of the things I 'need' are basics like a nice navy jacket/blazer which aren't very exciting compared to a nice dress or top, so I end up buying these more 'exciting' purchases rather than concentrating on finding a good basic. Also given i work at home so much and don't go out that often, I have more than enough clothes that I like to suffice for when I do go into the office or out so don't really 'need' anything, but that doesn't stop me 'wanting' more Grin

GOD I HATE TOPSHOP!!!!

Sorry need a rant..

3 skirts I totally adore, none in stock in my size! This always happens to me.. I think unless you're on their website daily you'll struggle to just nip in occasionally and buy what you want..

Rahhh... I WANT THOSE SKIRTS!!!! Angry

Selfridges sale has started!

Have just spent £££ on presents for DDs birthday though so must behave now.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/06/2016 11:13

What I wanted from Selfridges sold out during the previews, I'm so annoyed at myself.

Amber and One I think your approach works for you both because you have such a strong sense of your own style! It is interesting that me and Lib both try to get organised and we also have the same SP :)

Happy oh no, do they have an instore stock checker?

Everyone me too, I am so guilty of impulse purchases before sensible ones. This year as my wardrobe is nearing 100% capacity, I'm trying to fill gaps first. Then hopefully I won't feel bad about buying random stuff in A/W.

I love some of the methodical approaches on here to shopping.

Viva I too keep a secret Pin board and I'll pin items that I wouldn't pay full price for but would consider if they went in the sales. I'm trying to keep to my sales wish list and not go too off piste, i.e. Gerard Darel is sending me sales emails which I delete straightaway as I know I don't want anything from there. I have ended up buying a Jaeger tote which was not on my list but was thinking about buying one anyway. I think there is only one item left I want to buy and it's not in the sale yet. I have become a bit of a sale stalker and i'll check daily to see if the sale in a particular store has started.

HappyGirlNow · 15/06/2016 13:01

Ooh thanks Blair was using the app and didn't notice that option.. Well none are available in store but one has the option to be notified when stock comes in so presumably they know they're getting more in.. So I have opted for that. Thanks Grin
