combining different types of gold

We have inherited some jewellery, mainly gold wedding bands, signet rings etc. Although lovely it's from a different age where everyone had much smaller fingers than mine so we're wondering about combining the gold to make something different/meaningful that I can actually wear and will remind me of them.

However, the golds are a mix of 9ct, 15ct and 18ct - does this mean we can't easily combine them? Does anyone have any experience of doing something similar?

I wouldn't combine them. You'd end up with bands with irregular melting points which makes them more likely to break/wear/god help anyone trying to fix them at a later date.

Often for clients with a mixture of golds I make them into stacking rings. So it's nice and contemporary but easy to wear. I also use any irregular shaped stones etc that might be in the old jewellery. If it's memorial jewellery then I quite like doing birthstones or associated colour gemstones on each ring to commemorate each person.

You could do similar with beads on a necklace made of each item. Or charm type things.

Lots and lots of options that are better than leaving them in a drawer
