How to avoid thigh chaffing under wedding dress!!

Sunnysmile66 · 03/06/2016 11:26

Help!! I'm getting married again soon and have a gorgeous frock. My worry is that if its even slightly warm my thighs rub and get v uncomfortable.

I've not got enormous thighs and am a size 12/14 but get v hot and sore down there!!

My heart says slinky undies, my head (and thighs!!) say long shorts (which I have to wear in the summer if I wear a dress, which sadly rarely due to said problem!)

If you know of any glam long knickers or other ideas I'd be v grateful!!

Why don't you wear practical for the day & then change? No one will see them

Body glide apparently is good at preventing chafing - you can get it from amazon I think.

Silky bloomers? I'm sure there are pretty ones available.

Have you tried roll on ani-persperant on your thighs? I think i read it on here last year and it has completely changed my summer life!

It has to be anti-persperant and not just deoderant - apply liberally to inner thigh area and problem solved!

Big green olives

Thanks -
That was my initial plan - but my current shorts could do with an upgrade!

I'll grin inwardly all day knowing my bloomer secret!!

Wear your sexy undies then chop off a pair of tights so they are like hotpants and put over the top. You can then whip them off and dump them easily later on in the day.

I feel you sister

Deodorant on the thighs or that anti-rub gel (lanacane?)

Anti chaffing gel is a god send. Hey some lanacane (sp) off amazon, very reasonably priced!

Either wear some long spanx, which might actually improve the outline of the dress, but then again might not, it all depends) or failing that get some silicone lube/gel stuff Lanocaine I think it's called, it really works. Cyclists use it to stop chafing in their trouser area as well. And M&S sell lightweight soft silky long knickers like cycling shorts to help with this too.

I sympathise, I get this and if I don't catch it early enough it's total agony and I'm walking like John Wayne for the next few days.

I had this problem when we got married in September. Got white cycle shorts from H&M and then changed at night 😀

Would your dress benefit from a hoop underneath? I got one and made all the difference

I second the long Spanx idea. They are very comfortable.

I had the same problem when I got married a few years ago and it was a HOT day! You can buy some seriously impressive spanks that have shoulder straps, cover stomach (but sits under boobs so you can wear the bra of your choice!) And finish about two-thirds down your thighs, also have a slit in the gusset so you can pee without having to take the full dungerees-affair off! They are not sexy but they solved the problem perfectly for me and kept a smooth body line too! Think I got mine in Debenhams

I had this before and cut the leg off hold ups so you just get the band a bit like a garter. Stops the rub, still lets your fanjo area breathe and can't sweat off!

paap they're amazing! Since my teenage years I have:
Wrapped bandages around my thighs.
Wedged toilet paper around my knickers.
Walked like a duck.
Used roll on deodorant.
Lanicane.
Spanx.

These. Are. The dogs bollocks.

Bandelettes get my vote

Another vote for body glide. I have thunder thighs and use it all summer so I can wear summer dresses.
It doesn't stain or go sticky. My DP uses it for chaffing at the gym now too.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions .... wedding was wonderful and no chaffing!!! Managed to wear very slinky undies and used Body Glide. So simple to apply and there's no residue.

I did buy some Bandelettes but the dress I trialled this with last week was clingy and you could see the outline. I'm sure with a looser dress they would work. I also wore holdup on wedding day so wasn't sure about the double band effect.

Anyway ... Body Glide was amazing and I was on my feet all day, walking around and danced all night long with no rubbing.

Happy days!
