Saltwater sandals - is it just me?

After seeing everyone going on about how fantastic their Saltwater sandals were and how great they are for wide feet, comfortable, etc, I thought I would order some.

Oh my fucking life.

I can barely get my feet into them and they are so tight, they're unwearable. Am I doing something wrong here? It says on the box about resizing them when wet, but if I get them wet and they are still unwearable then I can't return them.

All I want is some goddamn flat sandals which look nice, don't cripple me and have ankle straps longer than about three inches. It's not even like I have particularly huge, fat feet.

:(

Did you order them in your usual size?

They run a size small so you're meant to go up one.

I have horribly wide trotters and love my saltwaters.

I think they are really, really hard especially underfoot and offer no support. If you have wider feet they are really uncomfortable! I always end up buying sandals from Clarks as they're the only place I can ever find proper comfy ones from! (I also like Toms shoes for comfort).

Cross posted.. Maybe some with wider feet are okay then! Grin

I bought my size. I didn't realise you were meant to size up. FFS.

I haven't tried Saltwaters (I think they look pretty hard though and I've got special snowflake feet so I don't think they'll be good for me) but I have been eyeing up these Toms which are the same style but soft and comfortable (I've tried them on in store but not purchased yet as I'm waiting for a voucher code!). I love Toms!

Thanks Lilly. I got mine from Toast and I don't remember seeing that info on the ordering page. Perhaps I can stretch them a bit.

Will check out Toms as well.

I had some amazing ones from Mint Velvet the year before last which were comfortable, pretty AND had long ankle straps but I had to throw them away because they finally wore out and all the ones in this year's selection have cross-foot straps which I know in advance will be too tight.

OP, return for a size up. Your toes should come up to the stitching line. Mine are so lovely and comfy. I live in them constantly when weather allows three days each year

I'd go against the above, I've had about five pairs over the years, and always bought my usual size. Bought from various suppliers.

I'd find a shop to try IRL if you can. Toast have them in the pre-sale at the moment, so they'll likely go in the main sale soon.

I just ordered some from Office, and they say on their website that they've done the size conversion faffing about, so you should get your normal size. My feet are very wide, so I really hope they're okay.

Right. I returned the Saltwaters.

Fairylea and Bow I ordered a pair of flat sandals from TOMS. They are brilliant! The ankle straps actually do up around my ankles without digging in, they look great and they're really comfy! Thanks so much for the recommendation! Well chuffed. I'm off to order another pair now. Grin
