Double cleansing and waterproof makeup

My eye liner doesn't seem to budge when I double cleanse. I tend to use Clinique TDDO balm as a first cleanse followed by a avene ultra gentle milk or whatever it is. Both removed with warm damp muslin.

I often find I need to do the first step twice! My skin isn't loving all the (gentle!) manual exfoliation.

Ive largely stripped back my routine but not getting this right.

I've found I need to bloody scrub if I use Micellar water as a first step so that's not the answer. SadHmm

Instead of using the same balm you use on the rest of your face or micellar water (which I personally hate), try using an eye makeup remover specifically designed for waterbroof eye makeup, before you cleanse the rest of you face. I use the Lancôme bi facial first to remove waterproof eye makeup, before double cleansing. It just takes a little bit on cotton pads to remove even the toughest eye makeup. Or, try an oil cleanser just for your eyes.

I use Bodyshop Camomile Butter and a muslin cloth (I didn't like the Camolmile Eye Make Up Remover)
The butter shifts everything.
I don't like the feeling of oil near my eyes, I know some people use almond oil or baby oil but my eyes screw up at the thought of these.

I always always use a separate eye make up remover.
My favourite ones which do not sting are niveas double effect, cliniques take the day off for lashes and the Lancome bi facial one.

Baby oil shifts eye make up.

I use flannels, not muslin. If you acid tone you don't need to use manual exfoliation too. Just wipe and rinse.

I use TTDO balm as well and it does shift my eye makeup, but only if I make the flannel on the hot side of warm and sort of hold it gently against my closed eyes, with gentle slight pressure over the lashes etc, for a wee while before massaging it away. And I tend to go over it a couple of times (rinsing the flannel and then going again with it freshly hot).

Coconut oil is amazing to remove waterproof eye makeup (it's solid in the tub and you just need a tiny bit with a muslin cloth / warm water). Cheap and lasts for ages. Obv that doesn't remove a step! But will be easier on your skin than having to scrub.

fluffy!'y Muslins are yonks old. Flannels I find totally over exfoliate my skin and make it very dry. I also have stopped acid cleansing more than very rarely. I think I was totally over Caroline Hironsing my face and it didn't like it.

Think I may try the Lancôme bi one. It gets consistently good reviews.

Thanks all and for confirming I do need a separate remover first.
