I'm wearing each item in my wardrobe to see if I still like it

Today is an Xmas gift from my DM. On paper, it should work. It's a dark and flowery dress - scuba material, and I tend to love anything floral

In reality, it rides up with every step I take and the armholes are funny

It's gone after today!

Anybody else want to join me?

I sometimes do this - i put outfits together in my wardrobe from left to right and force myself to go all the way along the rail without any repeats. I mainly do it because i like to feel that all my clothes get a chance to be worn - I feel sad thinking that the more popular ones might be a bit gloaty and tease the less frequently worn ones Blush. I am not standing for any bullying in my wardrobe! Wink

Its a great idea OP, will def help you to downsize your clothes.

Yes I've started this as I realised there was a lot of clothes in my wardrobe and I felt like I didn't want to wear them. It's opened my eyes ! I love some of my old outfits and anything I didn't enjoy goes in the charity shop bag.

i did it with jewellery and shoes as well as clothes. i found some really nice things that i had just never bothered using.

Such a great idea, I'm going to try this :) anything I really don't like straight in the charity bag!

I love this idea! I have kind of been doing this after kon-mari-ing but having lots of things I couldn't bear to throw away despite knowing I don't really wear them. So now everyting I wear goes back in the wardrobe on the left, so I can see what I actually wear, then every few weeks I clear out from the right. I have condensed my wardrobe by about 2/3 and I'm starting to see that most things in there are actually useful to me now. Be sure to post your random outfits when you get to the end OP!

Ah I thought I would just be waffling away to myself in here Grin

I started to kon Mari too but then realised just because I love it it, doesn't mean it looks good on me! Also really struggled to find something to wear last night for dinner so
Almost everything ended bundled on the bed Angry

Oh I love this. I recently took a picture of everything in the wardrobe. So I can plan outfits. And also check what I have if I'm shopping.

I did a month at work not wearing the same outfit twice and took pics everyday. So I can see what works with what.

Yes toble I think you're a few steps ahead of me! I've chucked out all the stuff I really don't like but not everything that's left is really 'me'. I've also been on a drastic diet so I've dropped a dress size so I need to redo it I think. I'm on maternity leave at the moment and not going back to work, so I need a wardrobe revamp. I might start trying out some new combinations.

That is a truely amazing idea! I'm on it OP. Might try to get DH involved too although it might take him a few years. He's a terrible horder Angry

Oh excellent idea OP.

I once managed about 6 or 7 weeks at work without wearing the same outfit twice. Sadly I've put on a stone since then so currently only fitting in about 15% of my wardrobe Sad

Oh great idea! Do you do it for evening clothes too so a night out you wear it? Rather than doing the housework etc in a dress for functions?

Love this idea!

I'm generally a thrower-outer because I hate clutter, but there are definitely a few things in there that I'm hanging onto. Likely to be a few too-short t shirts and some unflattering trousers....

Thanks!

I'm in work all weekend but am definitely going to do this on Monday.

Fab idea op

Well I have only done it for workwear so far. A day of trains / busses/ working definitely show which suits and which is uncomfortable! But yes I suppose a day of housework in a nice dress would have the same effect Grin

I started doing this a couple of days ago. I originally did a wardrobe clearout but found when the weather started to get nicer, I started to bring out summery clothes that had survived the wardrobe cull. So far two dresses (both with tags) and a skirt have made their way to the charity bag. I originally held on to them thinking they would suit me when I lost weight but have since realised that my whole shape has changed and they just don't do anything for me.

This is a brilliant idea I'm going to do this. Do you know when you have an item of clothing that in theory you like but in reality it makes you sad because you know it's unflattering/ awkward to wear and whenever you see it it just stresses you out a bit? I want to weed out all of those items!

I've started doing this two. After baby number 2 my shake has totally changed although my weight is pretty similar and most of my old clothes don't suit or fit well. I've culled about 80% of my wardrobe. It's actually quite freeing.

I want to do this too. In fact I want to take a photo of each item of clothing I own to see if I can put together different looks.

I need to do this. I've recently donated six bags of clothes that were either too big or I hasn't worn in years. I now need to thin out the four drawers and one wardrobe of things that are left.

Joining, brilliant idea - I won't wear everything as my wardrobe is pretty large but will definitely go through one rail in my main wardrobe!

I think this is a great idea. If I do it I know I will find things I will never want to wear again so I can have a good sort out of my wardrobe.

So I picked a rail and chose a top that I am wearing today. It is a blue silk crepe peasant top with floaty sleeves. I immediately realized why I have not worn it: it only works on really warm days, plus it is slightly loose in the shoulder area, slightly too tight in the hip area, and also a bit too long. I cannot shorten it on my own, the material is too delicate, it would have to be altered professionally. I'll wear it until afternoon to decide whether to keep it.

I'm going in the shower in 5 mins. The challenge begins then. There is stuff in there that rarely sees the light of day. It will be an interesting few weeks!
