Help. I have blocked pores - bumps and blackheads and a few spots, patches of dry flaky skin, some dark patches of hyper pigmentation... I hate it. I am stressed, sleep deprived and hormonal but can't change that, but i would like a wonder product or two to try! I think salycilic acid would help, but what's good? There's so much out there I don't know where to begin...

As a starter product with acid, I found the pixi glow tonic pretty good. I think it's glycolic acid, tho, if that makes any difference.

Corex BHA and nip fab 'extreme pads' help get rid of my black heads and smooth things out a bit. The BHA is a form of salycilic acid and the nip fab pads are mainly glycolic but I think the have salycilic in there as well.
Clearasil 5 pads or super drugs own version are also good.

I was a bit cynical at first but I tried the tropic skincare and I'm completely converted. I had blotchy, dry, spotty skin and I suffered with rosacea too. My skin has never looked better now. Not the cheapest of stuff but it does last

If you have dry patches as well the extreme pads are definitely a good buy. Look into a vitamin c serum for the hyperpigmentation.

Thanks all. Also mooting a clarisonic. Would that be any good with my skin type? Also I'm late 30's in case that makes any difference

I would start with nip n fab glycolic pads and see how you get on. If you don't get irritated, move up to the extreme pads.

You will need a good moisturiser that doesn't block your pores. Try cicaplast by la roche possay if you are oily or Toleriane Riche if you are dehydrated.

How are you cleansing? Naturally Radiant hot cloth cleanser (superdrug range) is v v good.

Boots botanics facial oil is really good for night time.

Introduce one product every 3-4 days and only add another one if there is no reaction. Aim to add a sunscreen in future.

Thank you! I have the nip and fab extreme pads now (too pricey to try the lighter one first and I'm desperate for fast results!) And that hot cloth cleanser. I also have the face balm from the same range as the cleanser to moisturise as it was buy one get one free, but will try your other recommendation once it's finished. Oh and the nip and fab overnight purifying gel as it was heavily reduced and I don't get to superdrug often! Fingers crossed...

Be careful with the Radiant range if your skin is in any way sensitive. It's very very perfumed. It's one of the few Superdrug products that I really didn't get on with, (disappointingly, given the price!) The Vit E one is much less stingy.

I bet that just doing a hot cloth double cleanse + an acid toner will have you noticing a massive difference within days!

Oh ok... i seem to be OK with it at the moment. 2 days of the hot cloth cleanse morning and night, then the nip fab extreme pads in the evening and the nip fab purifying gel at bedtime and the radiant balm for the day time and already my skin feels a lot smoother. I still have some blocked pores but the patches of dry flaky skin have gone. I'm hopeful for clear skin in a few weeks. I can live with the hyperpigmentation really, it's the spots that were getting me down. And that I couldn't cover them with foundation as that highlighted my dry patches!
