Impossible party outfit

I'm looking for an outfit for a party that will have a sporting element to it, so need something that'd look equally good (or at least not awful) with both trainers and heels. And won't either show my bum or split if I raise my arms or run/jump!

I was thinking a jumpsuit but I'm only 5'2 so not having much luck finding anything that won't swamp me.

Am I asking the impossible?!

Can you wear black leggings and a loose fit top like this grey cold shoulder sweatshirt - would work with trainers or black stilettos imo.

I definitely could have a few years ago but probably should have said that I'm 40 so these days I need something a bit dressier I think

What about a plain black jumpsuit then?

I still think leggings (good quality/well fitting obv) and a top are the way forward - 40 is not old, I am 38 and would completely wear that outfit Smile

Athleisure? bomber jacket?
sports luxe

Would a trendy Top Shop tracksuit do with trainers (and maybe a heel at some point?)

How sporty is this mysterious 'sporting element'?

There are quite a few petite jumpsuits about (little point in trying non-petite ones at 5'2" TBH) but anything thats sporty enough to need trainers might be a bit difficult in a dressy one.

Oh, and what sort trainers do you have? Colour and level of bulkiness is handy to know

I do like that Mango dress herecomesthsun but fear I would be sweeping the floor with it.

Can you suggest any leggings fauxfox? I only ever wear them for exercise these days and not convinced I could carry them off (sadly a size 8 when you're 5'2 doesn't mean I don't have lumps & bumps!). I do love that jumpsuit though, any idea on their sizing? Never heard of Wal-G, according to their chart I'd be a M/L to fit my waist.

I have loads of trainers MrsLettuce so that's definitely the easiest part, including white converse which'll probably work with most.

To be honest my sporting contribution will probably be minimal (given my height and that it's beach volleyball Grin) but don't want to be a killjoy & turn up in something completely impractical that'd rule out taking part at all.

J crew do some lovely tailored chino shorts.

These with some pumps and a tee or vest top. Then take a shirt or blouse to layer up after sports.

Or a romper. Something like this?
