Is this overpriced?

I have a sleeveless (navy) dress to wear to an evening summer wedding. In case I get cold I thought to get some kind of bolero jacket. This one. £20, when I don't even know what the material is, seems too much. But I don't ever buy new clothes so I don't know. What do others think?

Is this overpriced?

Depends. Is it a good label?

You don't get much for 20 quid these days!

I dunno if it's a good label, how would I know?

I hate shopping, sigh. I bet I could spend all day in nearest city & find nothing i liked better (sigh).

It was £16 when I clicked on the link? I wouldn't expect it to be great fabric, it's probably a rayon or polyester, unlined and cheaply finished, but that's what I'd expect for less than £20 to be honest. What do you expect for the money -serious question?

Also meant to say though, for a one off, or occasional item, and if it goes perfectly with your dress and you can't find an alternative, it's probably perfect for your purposes. No one will be inspecting it close up.

With postage it's over £20.
I may only wear this once in my life, for a wedding, but I guess it would be nice if it was still okay fitting after being washed & didn't look like generally cheap tat from the start & didn't disintegrate.

I really hate clothes more than ever now, lol. At least I am famous in my extended family for being useless at wearing anything nice. My hair & rest of me will still be a state.

It looks like it will feel nasty.
You could get something like that in better fabric from a sale, this one is a bit more expensive but it wont give you a rash: www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Linea+Jersey+shutter+jacket/227186780,default,pd.html

If you don't buy clothes very often then I think you'd be better off treating yourself to a thin wool bolero that you can wear again.

Coral goes nice with navy:

Or neutral colour:

Or if you want navy:

What's the dress like?

You think £20 for a jacket is too much? Confused

It'll be crap and you'd probably end up hating it so much you'd be happy to pay another £20 not to take it off. You could probably get a half decent wrap / shawl / scarf for that sort of price that you might even wear again.

Your budget sounds like mine
I'd have a look on Amazon, debenhams. Unless you're brilliant at second hand shopping I dint think you will get great fabric though but for a few occasions it will be fine. You can wear at home on chilly summer evenings to get more value from it.

I'd go for a pashmina that can at least double up as a scarf at other times of year

I think a colourful over-large scarf is the best way to go, thanks for that. Plus I know where to find a large selection of them. I will post a picture of dress later. It's a bit short & I have terrible legs, but I think I can pull it off with dark tights.

Darn, I had a pretty shawl for about 11 yrs that would have done fine but I never wore it so sold it ~3-4 yrs ago. Probably sold for less than what I'll need to pay now. Oh well, always the way!!

To be honest, I don't think it's a good buy.

ta.... Dress and newly purchased scarf/wrap. I have a shiny suitable necklace to wear, too. Bride is Indian & cousins are fashionistas so I expect a lot of Bling.

thanks for the feedback.
