Looked like a strung joint of lamb after trying on numerous swimsuits - feel like crap

So just that. I'm a size 10. I run, do weights, have been making a real effort in the run up to the holiday. When I use a measuring take and measure myself without pulling it tight the results are morning=8 and evening=size 10. So, I always go with a 10.

Went out swimwear shopping all excited after seeing great ones online. Had easy to remove clothes, good underwear, realistic expectations.

Well, even when trying on the mediums they were so so small and hard to get on. And as for the lighting in H&M - wooah. Enough to make me just feel crap about everything about myself! I tried this one on looked great straight across bandeau and strappy back. The straps cut so deep into my back this was the joint of lamb suit. Sigh. And this was the medium.

I ended up getting something from Zara which is basically a bodysuit that I will wear for the beach and really looks amazing. It is the only thing (size small!) that looked decent.

Has anyone found any swimwear that is actually sized accordingly?

I've got good swimwear from Sainsbury's, mix and match bikini type stuff. I just bought loads in different sizes and returned the ones that didn't fit.

Oh and I'd say the sizing was generous.

Seafolly swimwear fits beautifully but is £££

I always have to size up for swimwear. Plus H&M sizing is ODD.

Tesco has some nice stuff. I bought two one-piece swimsuits (a Speedo and one of the Tesco ones), which looked really nice.

I also tried on a couple of bikinis but the tops did not suit me at all so I did not even try the bottoms.

I ordered 12 items online (5 models in different sizes) and returned 10. Fairly painless process.

Thanks Deux, Natty, Rattitude I may pop to tescos tomorrow and I have had sea folly recommended before so will check them out too. And Dubious thanks for saying that about H&M sizing, I can tell you my cheeks were pink after that ordeal! Blush

H&M is designed for teenagers. So unless you're a teenager, their sizing is whack.

You know you're slim if you fit into Zara small size because it's pretty true to size.

In conclusion, it's not you, it's them

By the way, I am a size 10 but 12 on top so I often select 12 for one-piece swimsuits.

I got this Speedo in size 12, and this F&F in size 10. The latter is really flattering but it is a bit high at the back, hence why I bought both.

The bikinis I tried were Floral and Tropical Floral. The 34B tops were much too big for me, but they looked nice.

H&m sizing is tiny in everything. Dd at 14yo and stick thin is in medium jeggings.

I got a lovely swimsuit from Very a couple of years ago and another nice one from m&s.

It might be worth checking BHS too. I have also ordered the following bikini from their website. I have not yet received it so I cannot comment yet on the fit, but they seem to have a nice selection.

I have a Melissa odabach swimsuit. It's amazing!
I also have a seafolly which is nice.

You get what you pay for, A good costume/ bikini will last years and you do wear it all day.

Maybe try a bikini top and bottom that you tie yourself, as opposed to one with fixed clasps. Im a 10/12 broad of back, small of norks Blush - so generally go for this type, loads in Primark at the moment

Just an update I got a lovely swimsuit from Abercrombie and Fitch. Got a medium just to be sure and it's a bit big. Still better than feeling like a lamb joint I suppose Sad

Anyway fabric really nice and thick feel good in it :)
