Best counter for smokey eyes make up lesson

Hi

I use Bobbi Brown makeup after visiting the counter for an everyday make up lesson. Just wondered if there is an alternative brand as I'm wanting to update my going out makeup.
Overall I'm happy with Bobbi Brown - but keep seeing queues at the MAC counter so maybe I'm missing a trick!

Mac scares me. The girls who work on the counter could do with ,lessons themselves! Try urban decay or illmasqua.

Do not go to Benefit. They apply with a trowel and use the same colours for everyone and every age!

Laura Mercier, Chanel, or Giorgio Armani (they're the best for special event/going out makeup imo). I'd keep well away from Mac, their turnover has more to do with marketing than the capability of their staff. Like Kirriemuir mentioned they don't look all that great themselves, I tend to look for counter staff wearing the type of makeup I want to wear, if they're caked to the max I move on.

Urban Decay if you want something with a bit of edge colour wise. Other wise I'd agree with Chanel. I love the foundation.

I recommend the Covent Garden Charlotte Tillbury shop, I had smoky "rock chick" look done there and it was perfect for a night out, but you can talk to makeup artist and "choose" the look you'd like. You have to book in advance, but you can do online. It costs £35 but the whole session lasts an hour and you can redeem the £35 against any purchases so free in the end
Its also a "boudoir" type area specially for these sessions, very glamorous and away from prying eyes in the shop section of the shop.
You also get a glass of bubbly while they faff about with your face and makes you feel special, most importantly good makeup tips!
