Does anyone just use concealer?

Yup, no foundations, no tinted moisturisers - just concealer under your eyes or over dark patches?

I like the sound of this 'less is more' approach but am I kidding myself? Does it work?

I do this quite often, especially on the weekend just to cover the odd bit of redness and brighten up the eyes. Saves time and if skin is looking good why bother with a base?

Yep, for the last year I can't be arsed using foundation etcetc so just been using concealer around eyes, nose, dark spots etc. am 42 and actually think I look better without foundation - which probably means I was using the wrong one (Armani Luminous Silk) for years. I'm using Max Factor master touch all day concealer and also use Rimmel Hide the Blemish for any spot.

Thanks botemp - great that you can! - how do you blend it though, so it doesn't look patchy?

I have never used foundation. I have never liked the idea of clogging up my skin. I use concealer for dark patches, it is not noticible.

Wow naughty, you too! Did you find that it helped your skin at all? I'm currently using a Clinique foundation and I wonder if it's clogging up my skin and causing spots there that I can never seem to shift.

banana our posts crossed! My feelings exactly, I wonder if I should set my skin free... Am I brave enough? I guess there's something about full coverage that makes me feel I'm masking the lot in one fell swoop.

Clutter fly funny actually I've been pregnant and had baby 7 weeks ago and hadn't a spot for a good while and put it down to that but now I'm wondering if it was the foundation? I also switched to bioderma micellar cleansing water and thought well this is fab, as hadn't had a breakout for ages. I have irish freckly skin, prone to congestion but also dehydrated. I just really prefer the natural look. I use those concealers, eye liner and a cream blusher. Eyebrow pencil very sparingly. Have to say a bit o a rosy cheek really does give a youthful bloom!

I rarely wear foundation because I don't like the feel of it on my skin, but I do use a dab of concealer on its own occasionally.

I am grateful that my skin is pretty good so i only wear concealer, blush and fill my brows in a bit on a daily basis. :D Works well for me

Currently I'm using the high precision one from Giorgio Armani which has a lot of glycerin so it blends really easily with a simple tap of the fingers. Before that I used Charlotte Tilbury's the retoucher (it was good but went a little off in colour and consistency near the end), they're both quite liquidy so I never had blending issues.

Congratulations on your new baby naughty! I too am fair with freckly skin and feel I should embrace the natural with such a complexion. Thanks for the tips, I'll try the MF concealer. I have the rimmel one for spots but find it's so heavy and impossible to blend. It seems to highlight any spots rather than hide them!

Me too. Bobby Brown corrector, then concealer, plus eye pencil and blusher.
I developed seborrhaic dermatitis on previously bpretty much blemish free skin about 18 months ago, a contributing factor possibly being daily foundation use.
Now I'll wear it on the rate occasion I'm 'properly' going out for the day or evening, but won't be going back to daily use.

shotgun what is seborrhaic dermatitis? I wonder if that's what I have on my chin? What foundation had you been using? Is your skin better now you've dropped using foundation daily?

God I wish! The skin on my face is really good but I have xanthoma around my eyes so have to have 4 layers of crap on my face.

A bit of concealer sounds like heaven Grin

Thanks clutterfly, late nights not helping the complexion! Still, can't complain. Try concealer only maybe at weekend to get used to it? I probably look like something dragged through a bush to others but I just highlight what I like. No point masking the whole face with foundation if your skin is pretty clear. I never had any luck with Clinique, it actually broke me out. I'm so wary of buying anything for my face these days. They are expensive mistakes to make. I go by reviews online these days but tbh at my age I'm sticking to what works and not falling for the gimmicky products anymore!

Me! I rarely wear foundation, use a concealer pencil by Seventeen in Boots under my eyes, blend it in to my natural skin and then add blusher/ mascara/ eyeliner depending on my mood. When I tell people I don't wear foundation they're often surprised, I find my skin is much clearer without it.

Clutterfly, it's an itchy red rash, similar to dandruff in that it's kind of greasy and scaly. Often starts between the eyebrows or around the nose, but can spread all over the face, behind the ears, on the chest ...

It's thought to be some sort of yeast/fungal overgrowth. Can be aggravated by central heating, so often gets worse in winter. Telltale signs for me are tiny itchy spots under the skin, which appear after after the process of removing the foundation and mousturising afterwards with something other than my scalp cream.

I was using Bobby Brown foundation, but had switched to Astral moisturiser in a bid for bargain skincare, which I did find a bit greasy, so maybe this aggravated it as well.

I've always had good skin, but it's definitely better than when I had the seb derm! I cleared it up with a honey/coconut oil protocol I found online, but then I discovered Moogoo scalp cream so just use that now. I also have a sample of their foundation, which will probably last several months!

I'm very lucky to be able to get away with this. I wear Clinique instant perfector on my nose and use Clarins instant concealer under eyes and over any redness at the corners of the nose.

Yes applied in tiny amounts with a thin lip liner brush. - Lisa Eldridge has a you tube clip on pin point concealing
I now do that plus a cream highlighter
Both take 2 mins and look so much better!
