squoosh Tue 05-Apr-16 10:40:18

Not ebay, but I buy mine from Pharmacy Geoff.

Pharmacy Geoff is so dodgy I've never managed to open the site. wink I too wish to buy tretinoin because I know how to use sunscreen. pouts

houseHuntinginmanchester Tue 05-Apr-16 12:14:12

My goodness, £3.50 per tube shock.

Is that actual real tretinion????!!

I've been buying it for eye-watering amounts from a private derm in the past, but now can't afford it so looking for alternative dodgy places.

How cab you tell it's real ? [thicko emoticon]

MitzyLeFrouf Tue 05-Apr-16 12:26:16

The ones 'Geoff' sells are made by Janssen which is part of the Johnson and Johnson company. Definitely real, I had the initial peeling and have slowly worked my way up from 0.025 to 0.05. Still peel a bit if I slap it on a bit too eagerly.

Wow thanks squoosh and mitzy for the pic!

Off to order me a bit of Geoffs stuff grin

houseHuntinginmanchester Tue 05-Apr-16 13:13:11

Just a quick question for geoff fans:

Why is the tretinion gel 0.1% £3.50 and the tret cream 0.5% £9.00 a tube? They're both 20g.

Is it just difference pricing by different companies ? Because I have worked my way up to use the 0.1 but don't want to get a lower quality product if that's why it's cheaper. If any of that makes sense to anyone!

MitzyLeFrouf Tue 05-Apr-16 13:16:33

I think the only reason the 0.025 is more expensive is because it's more popular. Much easier to use than the harder to handle 0.1

MassiveStrumpet Tue 05-Apr-16 13:31:47

The last time I was on eBay I could only find one vender

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark Tue 05-Apr-16 15:12:58

I think the Amazing Faces threads sold ebay out last year! Geoff had none and I got mine from Thailand. Will check name of seller.

Fluffycloudland77 Tue 05-Apr-16 15:40:04

I just used a Thai seller with good reviews. 0.05% was the best for my skin.

houseHuntinginmanchester Tue 05-Apr-16 16:51:41

fluffy what was the name of the seller? I've tried searching but found nothing on eBay.

Missed the amazing faces threads, they sound good!

houseHuntinginmanchester Tue 05-Apr-16 16:52:23

thenlater ta please do x

Fluffycloudland77 Tue 05-Apr-16 17:12:08

Can't remember, it lasts a long time so I've still got loads left.

MitzyLeFrouf Tue 05-Apr-16 17:15:49

Every so often ebay will clamp down on these online sellers, so sometimes there's no retin to be found on ebay at all. They usually re-appear at some stage though.

Fluffycloudland77 Tue 05-Apr-16 17:18:55

www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/retin-a Try these.

MitzyLeFrouf Tue 05-Apr-16 17:20:33

The first couple look like retin a, but a lot of the results are retinol creams which aren't as effective.

Fluffycloudland77 Tue 05-Apr-16 17:22:09

Yeah I think they've had a clampdown. Fuckers.

Wolpertinger Tue 05-Apr-16 17:22:55

Almost nobody uses 0.1% so it's supply and demand really.

Prices do make you wonder why anyone bothers with expensive skincare at all.

And yes you can tell it's the real thing if you start from scratch and get the redness, skin peeling, it calms down and then like magic your spots disappear and a few months later so does a wrinkle.

BadlyDrawnBuoy Tue 05-Apr-16 21:13:28

I've been using a Dermalogica cream with 0.5% Retinol for the past six months. Could one of you Retin A gurus please recommend what strength I would need to start on for Retin A (for wrinkles rather than acne). Thanks!

Fluffycloudland77 Tue 05-Apr-16 21:20:47

0.025%. You need to be very careful with contraception, this is all in the patient info leaflet which you need to read all the way through.

Not just chuck it in the recycling like we normally do.

BadlyDrawnBuoy Tue 05-Apr-16 21:38:03

Thanks for getting back to me. There's no risk of pregnancy but presume it's ok to use if I'm on HRT?

Fluffycloudland77 Tue 05-Apr-16 21:49:31

You'd have to check the leaflet. I bet there's a PDF of the instructions on the net or you could google tretinoin drug interactions/contraindications and see what comes up.

Is it listed on the hrt leaflet? There should be a list of meds you should get advice about while taking it.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark Wed 06-Apr-16 08:21:41

Mine was healthandbeautyexpress but they seem to only have things like edible gold leaf and sex change pills at the moment shock

houseHuntinginmanchester Wed 06-Apr-16 17:56:53

Thank you all for sharing your tret wisdom! brewthanks

I've ordered fresh ones from Geoff but in the meantime am on week two of tretting again.

I look like fucking Freddy kreugar ! Big spots all over and now starting to peel all over too. Awful. Just awful. Feel like hiding away for six weeks but it's bastard half term and have to get out with the kids

And breathe.
