I am at a foundation cross roads in my life .. Ok so im approaching 40, the fine lines are starting, I have combination skin and have recently developed adult acne.

I used mac studio fix fluid foundation for years and it was good but probably a little too yellow in hindsight and i would regularly need blotting sheets during the day.

Im looking for good medium buildable coverage (especially now due to my breakouts). I like a matt finish and I like a liquid. I would prefer not to have to faff about with primers or setting powders, I just want a decent foundation that works without 'help' if that makes sense.

I have a budget of €50 and will be heading out to a large dept store later today to get some samples so do any of you lovely ladies (perhaps with similar skin/age) have any recommendations for me please? Smile

Thank you

I'm around your age with the same skin type.

If you're not bothered about sunscreen, I'd recommend the clinique beyond perfecting. Lasts very well and has a natural to matte finish. Shades do run quite dark though so bear that in mind.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light also lasts well but has quite a limited shade range.

An alternative to double wear is Vichy dermablend - great staying power, can get it from boots and not as expensive as double wear etc. Not as many shades as double wear though

Thank you flippinada I'm not fussed on spf because I use a separate sun screen. I will put these on my list. I didnt like the original EL double wear. It was cakey on me, but I will get a sample of the light version to try with the Clinique too.

You're welcome - I find the original double wear too cakey as well.

The beyond perfecting is marketed as a full coverage foundation but ime it can be sheered out.

Another good one is Lancome's miracle air de teint - you may find it a bit sheer though.
