Yes of course. That would look fine as long as the black shoes are clean and newish looking. I love navy and tan together too. And navy and red!

This is going to depend on the actual items. What came to mind from your description is something like a naval officer uniform and I'm sure that's not the look you're going for? !

Shoes are patent heels. Light ish navy so enough of a contrast! I agree tan works too but don't have any :(

Yes of course. I've been wearing navy clothes with black shoes for years. Never occurred to me that anyone might think they don't 'go'.

I don't wear black shoes with navy trousers but with a navy dress and black tights too I think can look good.

I don't wear them together, but it seems to be considered cool to do so now. So go for it.

Tan is my personal preference though.

Yes if with black tights and black shoes and a skirt.

No if with trousers , will look like a school uniform.

I just saw this blog linked on another site yesterday. I never knew navy and black 'don't go', and I've always thought they look fine together.

Aren't all neutrals supposed to go with eachother? So either navy and black go, or navy isn't a neutral, right? My understanding could be impaired. I've always hated brown and black together, but I think that's because I find brown to be ugly even on its own.

Go on with your navy and black. It's French, apparently. Grin

I love navy and black together. Very smart. Obv needs to be the right navy and black otherwise you end up looking like a BA stewardess or a school girl Grin
