Permanent hair removal - is it possible?!

So at the moment I use a Nair cream to remove the fuzz from my upper lip and jawline, but following pregnancy when my hormones went mental (ds is now 3) a lot of the ones on my chin went really coarse so I feel like essentially I've got a beard. The cream is good but the coarse ones come back within a day so my chin feels stubbly almost immediately after. It makes me spotty too.

I went for electrolysis for about a year after he was born, but there was no long lasting improvement, and I got a bit fed up spending all that money every week/fortnight.

Does anyone know of anything that I can buy to use at home to get rid of this for good? Also the fuzzy hairs on my face and neck seem to be getting longer so I'm starting to feel like I'm getting sideburns, so was hoping for something that I can use in all those places!! Help!

Have you read the reviews of the Phillips lumea? I bought one for use on my legs and bikini area and, although it's taken a while, it's definitely slowing down growth and leaving me with nice smooth skin. You have to shave the area but I've gotten used to that now.

I have electrolysis on my face, which is much more of a PITA.

No not heard of that one. Don't like the idea of shaving my face though, would that make every hair grow through coarse?

I've been using the Lumea for about 6 weeks, already noticed a difference all over and I am very dark haired! I've been using it on my face but not shaving first and it seems to be working fine. I used to pluck random hairs daily but now it's weekly. You're not supposed to pluck or wax but I'm not leaving a long whisker sticking out so I guess my face might take a bit longer to thin out completely!

Expensive but worth it if hair removal has become the bane of your life like mine had

Yeah I'm definitely to the point where I'm happy to spend a bit if I can get a decent result in the long term. I am literally dreading the day ds tells me I've got a beard like grandad, want to sort before we get there!

I have a Lumea - it's bloody brilliant. BUT - it wont work on fair hair, which I presume is what your facial hair is?

apparently electrolysis is a permanent solution for some people, maybe even most people, but definitely not me! I asked my electrolysist about this because I got fed up seeing posters in the salon saying it was permanent when I have been going for nearly twenty years. However, it keeps things under control and I now go once a month- 6 weeks, so I feel I am stuck with it.

IPL (like Lumea) and laser can only advertise as hair reduction. For me with salon IPL I found the hair simply started to get paler but still v long and coarse so it just wasn't picked it and it grew in so many places the cost was extortionate as you pay by zones. The nurse advised me to give up and go for electrolysis.

I'm a year into electrolysis now and have got down from 30 minutes every fortnight to 15 minutes about every 3 weeks and prob could do less but you get a bit obsessed and very very picky A lot of hairs definitely have gone for good so it is permanent but as you have to get them in the growing phase, with others it takes a number of goes to get them at the right phase. And then the sodding hormones make you grow new ones

So I expect I'll always be going but I hope to get down to 5 or 10 minutes once a month or so or less.
