What age range is phase eight for do you think?

Hahaha. This one comes up every year or so. I used to think it was my age group (30-40ish) but apparently it's only for the over 80s

But the shop seems to be frequented by pensioners.

Have you looked in Coast recently? I used to think it was really old fashioned or just for bridesmaids but they now do some really nice stuff - fancy tops and skirts and not just dresses! It's got a lot nicer! Give it a go!

I don't have much day to day stuff from Phase eight but the last three wedding outfits I've bought have come from there and I love them. I'm 34.

I'm 44 and love phase eight - I have work dresses, a couple of pairs of work trousers and smart and casual tops from there.

Some of the stuff is a bit 'old' - but there's also some really lovely things if you take time to look.

I'm definitely not a conventional dress sense person, i just like the fact it's really good quality.

I will caveat this by saying I do only ever buy in the sales.....

I'm 35 and I really love their jeans. Been wearing them at least 5 years. Flattering and good fit. (BTW am tallish was size 12, now size 14 post DCs). Also worn lots of their maxi dresses both as "day" dresses and "outfits".

I wouldn't describe myself as stylish but i doubt/hope no-one would say I was frumpy either. The large visible tattoos may offset the "old lady" clothes and average me out!

I've been wearing their dresses for work for more than 15 years. I see plenty of 25 year olds in them at work and they look great.

They are particularly suited to teaching or working with children - they are stretchy, simple and easy to wash/tumble. Smart enough too.

Phase 8 are strange, they range from Maria Von Trapp having been at the curtaining, to fabulous classy stuff.

I have a top, long, the finest wool imaginable, navy, which I love so much I bought 3 and wear it for weddings and other semi-formal dos. I have it on permanent search on ebay so I can snap up any more.

I also think the whole "which age group" thing is a bit daft. I am 51 and have stuff from H and M, Top Shop, Gap, M and S, Jaeger.

I like phase 8 - the clothes are well made and seem to suit my height and shape 5'2, size 16.
Style wise it is a bit of a mix. I bought a fringed 1920s dress before Christmas which looked good (it did go back though because it was so impractical in terms of the fringing getting caught in the zip - it was impossible to get dressed without help!) I did get a nice pair of 'posh' leggings as well and had my eye on an asymetric one sleeve top, which was lovely, although over priced.

I have bought some great coats, jumpers and tops from them over the winter. Good for plain basics with a twist. I only buy plain colours though and have a capsule wardrobe.I'm 40.

Phase Eight is a tricky one. I like some things in there, and have bought a couple of things n there, but always feel as if I shouldnt. I'm late 30s.

59 and shop all over. Phase 8 is one of those places where I try on but rarely buy. It's usually too long (I'm 5'3) or goes a flounce too far for my taste.

And if they really wanted to cater for my age group, they would put sleeves in those nice 'going out' dresses. No I don't want a skanky bolero, thank you, I would just like a fucking sleeve. Please.

I'm 40 and a lot of the stuff in there is too old for me, but when I find something I like and I have bought it it, it has been excellent quality and washed well

I see the odd dress there that I like but on the whole they are too smart for my lifestyle. If I wanted an 'occasion' dress, yes, there are some I'd buy. I don't like the fact that most are made from polyester. Generally the patterns are too big for petite people - large florals.
This is one of the very few I'd consider as a day dress

Agree with PP that I'd need to shorten them and yes, far too few have sleeves. They have changed. Some years ago they were more 'arty' when led by whoever founded them- they had some quite unusual clothes - but a few years back they changed and it's hard to see how they differ from Hobbs, Coast, and those kinds of brands.
