Stuck in a jeans rut

Hi,

I've been looking at myself and my wardrobe recently, and I've realised I'm in a bit of a clothes rut. I always wear jeans. I wear scruffy jeans when round the house with the children (currently on second and final lot of maternity leave) and I wear nicer jeans fora a night out. Daytime is jeans, t-shirt, jumper, boots or trainers, maybe ballet flats with cropped jeans in the summer. Night out is black or navy skinny jeans, nice top, heels or boots or ballet flats. This winter I've ventured into a couple of knitted dresses, which I like, but it'll be too warm for them soon.

While jeans have their place - useful for getting thrown up on, getting food on and crawling around the floor - I would like some alternatives for smarter casual wear and nights out ideas. My nights out generally involve casual restaurants and pubs, rather than anywhere too glamorous.I have three children aged three and under, so it also needs to be practical, not too expensive and easy to wash. Any ideas? For context, I'm 37, 5ft6, usually a size 12 and quite curvy.

Thanks!

I don't know the answer, but am in the same boat, so looking forward to reading replies!

I feel the same! Fed up with jeans but then always find this 'in-between' month tricky as weather so changeable, not really winter or spring yet! I sometimes wear leggings with a longer tunic style jumper but feel bit shapeless and frumpy sometimes. Just brought a denim shirt style dress from m and s I really like. I have worn that with thick black tights and heeled boots for a family pub meal, and also worn with black leggings and boots for everyday. Other than that bit stumped! I just don't know what suits me really. Have you tried thick tights with a skirt, say a denim one? Seen quite a few in shops recently, a gradual stray from jeans being denim still! They are neutral so can pretty much wear any top.

I love shirt dresses too! They go with almost anything!
For a night out: leather pencil skirt instead of jeans?

Chinos and Breton tops

And jersey dresses hit when too warm for jumper dresses.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm never sure about leggings - occasionally wear them under a short dress, but fear I could get into a leggings rut instead of a jeans rut. Short dresses I'm not sure about either. With big boobs I try and avoid things with buttons down the front, but I might have a look, see what's about.
