How often do you get a facial?

I read that ideally you should get a professional facial (with extractions) once a month.

Does anyone do this? If so, did you notice any visible improvement in your skin?

It sounds like a lot of work!

Never. Can't see the point, especially of the extractions given that whatever they are extracting will only be back the following day if you have sebaceous filaments.

I keep mine at bay by toning with salicylic acid - no extractions needed thank-you very much.

Has anyone ever demonstrated any lasting skin benefits to facials beyond beauty industry pseudoscience and fluff?

Never, whenever I've had one , I look for test day and then come out in spots. I'd rather the crap lurked unseen.

Not test. Rest of the day.

I've had one in my life and what the hell are "extractions"?

My skin seems to be pretty ok.

Never had one, I should say.

Don't think I've ever had one either.

Have one every six weeks.
I've never come out in spots afterwards.
At 56 I have great skin.

Had one once, never ever again. I hate people doing stuff on my face, and charging me a fortune for something I detest. If I am offered a'free' facial as part of a spa deal I say no!

I've never had a facial in my life. I'm 51 and I have good skin.

I've never gone the professional route but I do a fairly thorough exfoliation about every six weeks followed by lashings of moisturiser.

I do get a bit red/ blotchy/ patchy afterwards and do it at least 48hrs before planning a full makeup night out. A few days later, my skin feels fresh, soft and rejuvenated.

This combined with not drinking alcohol too often and my fourty something skin is the healthiest its been in years.

I've had a couple. It didn't seem to do anything so I haven't bothered making it a regular thing. Are the people saying you should do it monthly shareholders in spas by any chance?

I have about 10 per year. I love them.

I have them because they are so relaxing. I usually have the Elemis 'Absolute Spa Ritual' which includes a full body massage.

I have never had extractions or got spots afterwards. My skin looks plump and glowy afterwards and moisturiser sinks in better for a couple of weeks after.

about once every five years when someone gives me a spa voucher

Used to have them monthly and my skin was great. Therapist then moved and new one wasn't as good. If I track down original therapist, I'll go back. Had Espa Rebalancing and she used to throw in a head massage whilst the mask was on, as she knew I liked them.

Never had one. I don't actually know what a facial is.

I'm 50 and have never had spots or wrinkles despite only ever cleaning off last night's makeup with a bit of shower gel and water in my morning shower .

I use Clinique Mild Exfoliating Lotion. It is OK but not as good as Paula's Choice 2% BHA which is what I'm going back to when the current bottle runs out.

I've also had Espa and Elemis facials and they are lovely and highly enjoyable and I would love to have them again but I couldn't in all honesty say I looked different afterwards.

Very rarely nowadays. I've had them in the past, and done the full courses of CACI etc but nope- the results weren't anything special

I still have the odd one nowadays, but usually as part of a spa package and it's relaxing more than anything else

I had dermalogica facials once a month for about a year in the run up to and a few months after our wedding and it made a huge difference to my skin (also used the products daily). It was however an expensive habit and one I couldn't keep up once I went on mat leave or working part time since.
If I could afford it I would definitely do it regularly again.

I've never had one. In fact I've never had a massage or a leg wax or anything pampering like that! I don't even find going to the hairdressers relaxing. I hate being faffed about with especially by young girls with those in your face eyebrows that look like birds I used to draw when I was a kid

Yes I have dermalogica ones Welshcakes
I've been going to the same beautician for 17 years.

Passmethe hoover glad I'm not the only woman in the world never to have had a massage either, let alone a treatment . I've also never had a manicure or pedicure.
