Does Protect and Perfect serum work?

carlaboyle1984 · 23/02/2016 17:50

Never used this before but noticed my previous fine lines on my face are getting deeper (since I became a mother!). Agh!
Remembered all the hype around this Boots product a few years back...does anyone actually use this for wrinkles and does it improve them? Was the hype just hype or does it work? X

Shameless haggard placemark!

My MIL was on the testing panel for this and from the before and after photos there was a difference in her skin. I think that in terms of a cheap serum it is considered to be reasonably good. Depending on your age, Caroline Hirons says that serum is the most important product for your skin.

Ooo never thought of Superdrug. Just read that only way to really get rid of wrinkles is Botox oh great

I don't know if serum makes a difference, but keep applying it just in case. I find the No7 one seems to suit me and I request it for birthday/Xmas so always have a decent supply that doesn't hurt (my) pocket!

I did try the Superdrug vit E version in the hope of a cheap alternative but found it made my skin break out. And at the other end so did a Clinique serum I was given for my 40th. So I'm sticking to No7 it seems!

It didn't do anything for me.

I have, however, seen results with lrp redermic R. It's taken a few months but there's definately an improvement.

Ooo sorry Burnishedsilver...just noticed it must be one product not two like I have stated above. (Irp Redermic R)

It contains retinol so I think that was the reason for the hype - other products do too now though
The silicones in it will also act to temporarily blur your wrinkles and pores
So it is a clever combination of ingrediants
I buy the day cream in the summer as it is an excellent base for make up and contains an SPF

It did bugger all for me, except give my skin a kind of rough texture.

Thanks ladies. Oooo I really can't decide, I just want something that works fast! I didn't realise it had retinol in it wow. Yeah I saw the protect and protect face cream too, though I just read that it has in fact got the exact same ingredients in it as 'boots time delay' which is half the price. Hard to know what works agh!

It never did much for me, and then I got the biggest size tube for Christmas Angry
No. 7 does get a lot of research money, so it's disappointing - maybe it works for some people?

Ohhhh blast. Surprised after the hype so many people saying its actually rubbish. What a shame. Going to have to keep researching

This is ther Redermic R. I found it works, but it's not a quick fix. It's more of a long term commitment.

I really wanted needed it to work but its just dried my face out something terrible even with vats of moisturiser applied after. Had to stop and just carry on using clinique superdefense on bare wrinkly skin instead. So still wrinkly but at least my face dosn't hurt!

Wow thanks for the links guys! There are just so many products out there claiming to reduce wrinkles etc, it's so hard to know which to buy! I don't wanna resort to fillers at the moment but will if My face continues to age by 5 years every blimmin month!

The reason it got all the hype is that they actually conducted clinical trials that proved it worked. No-one else has committed this amount of time/money into proving the various claims that they make.

On that basis, it's the one I use all the time! I don't know if it's reversed any wrinkles/lines I have, but I would definitely say that I haven't got more wrinkled/lined. I'm 56 and would definitely say that I pass for a lot younger than that.

Burnishedsilver I like the idea of that Redermic R as its Retinol which is supposed to be great at combatting those pesky wrinkles, also it's sold in Boots!! The reviews are all amazing too... tempted to buy some now.
So, did you notice your wrinkles reduced slightly? What moisturiser do you use on top of this? (I assume this is more of a serum?)

Initially I was using a moisturiser on top but I realised that I don't actually need it. I was over moisturising.
I've noticed an improvement in my '11' lines above my nose and in other fine wrinkles. There are a few deeper ones on my forhead that haven't responded yet. I'm thinking when I've finished the next tube I'll try moving up to a stronger retinol.

Number 7 works very well for me. If I stop using it for a couple of months my 11s come back but a few weeks with the serum, once a day, and they're virtually gone inside 3 weeks. Doesn't work so well with smile lines but I don't mind them.
It's happened several times now so it's not a coincidence.

It worked very well for me but my favourite serum is Full of Grace by Lush.
