You know how some people refer to Primark as Primarni?? Well......

DH is convinced that the word Primarni is a cross between Primark and Armani (as in Giorgio Armani, posh suits etc).

But I always thought it was a combination of Primark and Marni (fashionista favourite). Who is right?

(please say me)

Katenka Sun 21-Feb-16 13:58:52

I have always though it was Armani. I heard it first off my aunt, who said it was so always just assumed that was right.

Sorry

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 21-Feb-16 13:59:16

I thought the latter!

liptolinford Sun 21-Feb-16 13:59:33

I just assumed it was Armani!

XiCi Sun 21-Feb-16 14:00:18

Yep, definitely Armani

YankNCock Sun 21-Feb-16 14:00:22

Sorry, I think your DH is right. So does Urban Dictionary.

luckiestgirlintheworld Sun 21-Feb-16 14:01:11

Never heard of Marni. I always assumed Armani

Dontdrinkandfacebook Sun 21-Feb-16 14:03:00

I thought Armani

LemonRedwood Sun 21-Feb-16 14:03:03

I always thought armani too, sorry.

StAlphonsosPancakeBreakfast Sun 21-Feb-16 14:03:26

I've always thought same as you OP particularly as the clothes very often lean more towards a Marni style than the highly tailored Armani look. Also the urban dictionary isn't exactly a reputable citation. grin

CointreauVersial Sun 21-Feb-16 14:03:27

Argh! At least Nugget thinks I'm right!

<thanks lucky stars DH doesn't yet know about this thread>

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 21-Feb-16 14:03:56

Marni makes more sense though? Because last syllable is the same, rather than 'mani'.

Tartyflette Sun 21-Feb-16 14:04:27

i thought it was Marni.

Tate15 Sun 21-Feb-16 14:05:31

Back in Essex we called it Pree-mar-shay!

QOD Sun 21-Feb-16 14:05:49

Never heard of Marni

Deffo Armani

LaurieFairyCake Sun 21-Feb-16 14:06:47

Definitely Marni

They style is nothing like Armani but they blatantly copy the boho look Marni favours

IWantedThatBiscuit Sun 21-Feb-16 14:08:34

I thought it was Armani (I doubt most people know about Marni)? Thought it was a pisstake on the fact it very definitely isn't 'designer'?

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 21-Feb-16 14:08:53

A small but vocal minority in your favour OP!

HarrietSchulenberg Sun 21-Feb-16 14:10:00

I've never heard of Marni.
Primarni is meant to be a cross between Primark and Armani, the idea being that it's designer style clothing at cheap prices.
Still shite whatever it's called.

EdithWeston Sun 21-Feb-16 14:10:26

Primary and Armani have both been around for a good couple of decades before Marni.

Also, not everyone has heard of Marni.

Never occurred to me it could be anything other than Primark+Armani, given relative penetration of brands over time.

CointreauVersial Sun 21-Feb-16 14:11:26

DH has never heard of Marni! He said "the common man who shops in Primark" hasn't heard of Marni either.

Katenka Sun 21-Feb-16 14:12:05

Most people haven't heard of Marin, must have at least heard of Armani

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 21-Feb-16 14:12:16

But it would be 'Primani' wouldn't it??!

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 21-Feb-16 14:13:25

Primarni is meant to be a cross between Primark and Armani, the idea being that it's designer style clothing at cheap prices

But that's true either way.

Assume it is meant to be Armani based on this thread but I always assumed Marni

Trills Sun 21-Feb-16 14:14:34

Armani.

Never heard of Marni.
