Party dress, NYC

Help! It's my husband's 40th birthday in two weeks and we're going for a long weekend in NYC to celebrate. On the Sunday evening we are going Out out. I need a killer dress to wear to get me past the doormen!

I'm 40, 5ft8, size 12 but big boobs. Great legs. In my mind I'm thinking a slinky shift-type dress with ankle boots and red lipstick but it's so long since I've been Out out that I am clueless. I want to look fucking fantastic, naturally. Money not too big an issue...

Money IS an issue, just not the biggest consideration. It's a really special trip so I'm happy to spend a bit.

I sound like a really spoiled cow - I'm not, I promise!!

Could you book a personal shopper appointment somewhere (Selfridges if you can get into London maybe)? If it's such a special occasion? I've used them a couple of times and if the lady you get is good then they are brilliant. You try on things that you wouldn't have considered otherwise. So many things look like nothing on the hanger but brilliant once on.

I've got no time, or I would consider it - we fly a week on weds; I work full time and next weekend is chocka with birthday stuff Confused

A friend is taking us to a club that's apparently filled to the brim with models and celebrities. I want to a) get in Hmm and b) not look totally out of place

Could you book appointment for personal shopper in Bloomingdales. Ring ahead to book appointment, hopefully your club night isn't on the first night of your trip. book hair and makeup appointments in Bloomies too. There is a hair salon downstairs floor -1 . We were at a wedding last yr in NY and i did all the aforementioned except the personal shopper. The girl in Bobbi brown was honestly a miracle worker. Have a ball you lucky thingEnvyGrin
