I'm going to the races on Gold Cup day ( next month ) and really struggling to decide what to wear! We are in the club enclosure so will need to be smart, but I'm on a very tight budget so don't have a fortune to spend on a whole new outfit. From what I've seen people ( by people, I mean Zara Philips ;) ) tend to wear a nice wool coat, furry scarf things, boots and a hat. Or tweed. Not sure I can pull off tweed. I do have a fairly nice coat which I think I will wear, black military style with red bits. So really I'm looking for a dress and maybe footwear and a bag?
If it helps I'm 39, short and a top heavy size 14/16 so always struggle to find flattering clothes!
Is anyone else on here going? What are you wearing? Please help!

Plain-ish coat, plain-ish boots nicely polished, flattering hat (Glenalmond have some pretty mixed tweed ones in the sale) to keep you warm outdoors, gloves for watching the racing. Simple comfortable dress (Winser London?) or tweed mini skirt, silk blouse, cashmere sweater, nice bag, your best real simple jewellery, natural make up. Cheltenham Festival is about the racing not the clothes; that's Ascot. If the forecast is atrocious, dress for as much comfort and waterproofness as possible. It's on a hill and is often cold. Toffs dress up much less than you might think!

Thank you! Yes I'm definitely going to watch the racing, hence why I'm a bit stuck for what to wear! And if I stick with simple I should have something I can wear again too. Will check out the hats.
