Wavy, scrunch dried hair - what to do the day after?

My hair is v thick and has a strong wave but not an actual curl. Have recently had it cut from waist length to a chin length bob. Attempts to wear bob straight failed as it laughs in the face of straightening irons. Have therefore had some layers cut in to make it a wavy bob.

Curl defining cream in wet hair, scrunch it up and let it dry naturally - all good on day 1. By end of day 1 the curls are dropping out and by day 2 I have a weird triangular slightly wavy mass going on.

Do I have to wash and scrunch daily? Or is there another method?

Any other cut suggestions? I suited a pixie cut when I was 20 years younger and 2 and a half stone lighter. At 40, 5'10, bespectacled, slightly overweight and with the odd grey hair I have a feeling very short isn't going to end well.

Thanks in advance!

Mine is like this - same cut, lots and lots of hair and naturally a bit wavy.

I alternate between straight and wavy, but on wavy days I drag it out for several days as I actually prefer it the messier and more "lived in" it looks. On day 2 I just spray some dry shampoo in the roots and flip upside down and boof it up a bit with my hands to get more volume. Then I dampen the ends and scrunch to redefine the waves , usually with a little bit of product - boots curl cream or some bumble and bumble texturising stuff - love their products for creating messy waves.

Could you just pin the front sections back a bit like this?

Try mixing some conditioner and water in a spray bottle, give it a quick spray and scrunch and leave to air dry.

I damp mine down a bit. As in wet hands and scrunch, then repeat with curl cream on my hands. Or I have a curl reviving spray so I tip head upside down, spray hair until damp and then scrunch

Thanks, all very helpful advice. I don't think it is quite long enough to pin the top bit back, it's curling or kinking around the jawline.

The various methods of dampening it sound good though. Thank you!

Mine is somewhere between wavy and curly - loose ringlet type of wave. It's long though - below shoulder blades.

I twist mine into a loose bun before bed, may give it a blast of Elnett once up. Shake it out in the morning and it's perfect.

I used to wash my hair every day, but I have recently come to 'understand' it. It is totally non-greasy and needs washing only once per week, I use this marvellous stuff when it is wet. It holds the shape and curl definition for ages.

Mines similar, I wet it a bit whilst in the shower every morning, then scrunch a bit of curl cream in and leave to dry naturally

Does your hair not smell if you don't wash it every day? Mine is naturally curly and I have to wash it daily or it smells kind of musty by day two. I don't smoke or do any heavy exercise.

It does a bit but I don't mind! I enjoy a scruffy kinda vibe Wink

No, mine doesn't smell. I can smell a stinky scalp at 100 paces.

I don't THINK it smells Smile and have always found that if I wash it every day it isnt at its best.

I dry shampoo mine then run a large toothed wet comb through it and re-scrunch!

Provided cut is still good, this works a treat.

If I'm going out and it needs extra va va voom, I upturn my head and hair spray it Smile

Mine is similar but I can't get away with leaving it another day. I wake up looking like hagrid. I have to wet it in the shower, comb a little bit of conditioner through and re scrunch.

I used sea salt spray on my hair the next day when it's dry and it gives it a lovely texture
