Black heads!

How do I get rid of them please? They are on my nose. I wash my face twice a day. Exfoliate couple if times a week. I can squeeze them which is satisfying but they don't go. Any suggestions?

This was me!
Vichy normaderm toner everyday or anything with salicylic acid
Oil free moisturiser only on nose
Wash face with a warm flannel and a BAR soap which dissolves the crud but can be a little drying - I realise this won't be recommended by others but It worked for me
Once a week a charcoal warming mask - sanctuary is good
Avoid putting too much product on your nose too
I have no blackheads not filaments now
Nabootique is a good advisor and will probably be able to help better than me!

They might not be blackheads - they may be sebaceous filaments, which I'm afraid you can do very little about. Acid toner will help to improve their appearance.

Did I read somewhere that those Biore strips do more harm than good?
I need a black head intervention as well Sad

I'm place marking too. Do salicylic acid toners really work? If so, how long do they take?

On your nose? You squueze them out but they are back the next day?

They are sebaceous filaments not blackheads. Perfectly normal but you can't get rid of them - as you've noticed Sad Your skin naturally makes a filament to sit in the pore and the top of the filament oxidizes and turns black making it look like a blackheads.

As Cones says, salicylic acid will dissolve into the filament and dissolve the black tops off. They won't go but they won't look black any more. Mine are essentially invisible now.

Any leave on (not a cleanser or scrub - it needs to physically stay on your skin to work) product with salicylic acid will work. I use Clinique Mild Exfoliating Lotion. Have used Vichy Normaderm which is nice. Clearasil pads are cheap but I personally don't like the stingy alcohol - you don't need it for it work. Nip and Fab Dragons Blood pads are always popular. If you have proper acne as well a stronger product like Paula's Choice 2% BHA will get rid of the acne too - I don't find the milder ones cut it for my spots really (the CLinique is only 0.5%).

Panoxyl. Extract blackheads in one session than apply panoxyl daily. Use a moisturiser after panoxyl has sunk in or your face may be flaky.

Lemon juice. Keep half a lemon and rub it on.

DON'T rub a lemon on your nose! I don't care if it works. It's too weird. My granny used to sit with her elbows in lemons and we all looked at her like this --> Hmm

There are lots of Vichy normaderm products which one am I looking for? Sounds like they are the sebaceous thingies as are stubborn. I hate them but getting rid of the black stuff would be good. I have quite dry skin.

Someone said something about soluble aspirin recently - does anyone remember?

Report
ConesOfDunshire · 07/02/2016 14:29

Aspirin is salicylic acid so it will work - mix the tablets to a paste and apply to the nose.

Good luck popper interested to hear if you also have the great experience I had.
Really they have gone, even in natural light. For me the green toner was the best buy ever. I hope it isn't a dud for you!!

How long do you leave the aspirin paste on? DD has this problem and I need something low intervention (I.e not extraction). I did get her a wash, but didn't know salycylic acid had to stay on the skin. Is the wash basically useless?
Flowers in advance for any advice
