I spat my vino at ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-menopause! Oh, you are a witty bunch.

We woke up to a couple of inches of snow, but not enough for sledging or snowmen, which the DCs were most put out about.

I had a quick dash to Kingston to return a few things, and found a marvellous pair of jeans in Gap which fit perfectly, and were reduced from £50 to £20....or so I thought. When I reached the till they rung up at full price (even though they were clearly marked down), and the cashier refused to budge "unless I could find another identical pair similarly reduced". Not one to be done out of a discount (and, lets face it, well-fitting jeans are a rare thing) I dived into the sale rail, and although it took me five minutes I found another pair. The cashier looked like she was sucking lemons as I waved them at her triumphantly, but I got my discount!

Well done CV..... I'm here, reporting for duty. Dh and I have been beaten by technology and buffering by trying to watch something on ITV iplayer on the telly. It gave up 30 mins in. I need wifi extenders apparently!

Love the thread title!

CV, well done - I would have done exactly the same.

Off to bed shortly as I am exhausted: DD and family for lunch, and then before they had gone home DS arrived with his two DC. DH has been asleep in the chair for hours. Dental hospital tomorrow.

Great title!

CV, had a different experience with cashier in TK Maxx on Friday. Tried on a pair of boots for snow hiking reduced in children's section from £64 to £13, took them to the till where the cashier said I don't think that's right. Hard stare, 'i thnk you'll find ...'. She took them away, checked, came back and they were £8.

BD & MI - just in case the make is Keen and they are v comfy. The label said they were 38 but I reckon they were 36 and maybe that's why were reduced

Kitchen still smells of deep fried filo this morning

Auriga, no, not my bag, but I was googling to see if any reassessment of RK given the centenary debates (Hastings/Ferguson).

BD and Crem, power to your gorgeous elbows this week.

Morning crepeys.

Back on the jolly old 5:2 today to enable me to squeeze back into most of my wardrobe. So far it's not too bad, but it's not even lunchtime.

Had a jolly time in Sheffield at chum's 50th. It was a disguise party, so naturally I went as Darth Vader relaxing in the evening, with silk dressing gown and cravat. My very tall friend went as a standard lamp.

Each time I go to visit this friend (single mum of 6yo twins) I find myself itching to tidy up and vacuum. There are toys EVERYWHERE, dirty clothes all over the house, food and drink spilled everywhere, and the kids never get asked to tidy anything away. She keeps talking about going away together for a weekend, but I don't think I'd cope!

Sounds as if she’s really given up on the house, doesn’t it (I say that as someone who would doubtless have done the same under similar circs).

I am not really making much progress today.
