Sounds like you need to visit the GP.

Eucerin do a good shampoo and lotion. Dermatolocontrol. It has really helped me with my itchy scalp.

Sweet almond oil, massage into scalp and shampoo out with a paraben and sulphate free shampoo. Should help with dryness

After you rinse the conditioner out THOROUGHLY , try rinsing with a camomile tea solution and leave that in your hair to dry. It can help soothe the scalp.

Isn't it horrible? Poor you op.

Have you tried the loreal black stuff? The orange coloured shampoo, for men? I don't know why it's for men Hmm but it's the only shampoo that seems to help for a lot of people. It works for me and nothing else does.

I bought a shower filter from Amazon which I think helps. I also wash and change my pillow cases very regularly.

I wish I knew the answer. My latest disaster is jasons-it pongs, costs £9 and doesn't work.Sad

When I was a teenager there used to be some orange shampoo in a square sort of bottle that had to be diluted- I can't remember for the life of me what it was called, but it did seem to help.

Eucerin dermocapillaire
E45 shampoo

I like Klorane avoine as a gentle shampoo too.

Ha yeah I've made the Jason's mistake too!
E45 made scalp worse and hair not good.
The body shop ginger is best so far but still not 100%

I use Aveda (the pure abundance as my hair is thin) and Aussi conditioner only on the bottom half of my hair. My hair still isn't great, but it's as good as it can be I think and my scalp is so much better than with anything else I've tried. Aveda is expensive but I only need a small amount compared to other shampoos, so I think it works out about the same price per wash as ordinary shampoos.

The Eucerin one (the other poster has the correct name) - Dermocapillaire - also has a lotion that you can put on your scalp. This helps massively and doesn't make your hair greasy but is very soothing. Amazon sells them as not all branches of Boots seem to have them.

I second the Moogoo recommendation of a pp - look at their website and read about their shampoo and ethos. They are all about trying to use the most gentle non-irritating ingredients. It's completely changed the state of my scalp. But in going completely sls free, we do need to stop using conditioners and styling products with silicones in as the shampoos aren't strong enough to strip them from your hair, so they build up and it looks dull.

Shower filter did the trick for me. When I moved to London I started getting a horribly itchy scalp and much greasier flat hair than usual.

YY Eucerin dermocapillaire. The shampoo and lotion in combination are more effective than Betnovate scalp lotion for me.

I remember that Orange shampoo in a square container. It was fantastic, and the only thing that ever worked on mine too. What was it, and why isn't it still available?

Oilatum shampoo has helped massively in the past. I have a sort of tolerance to shampoo that lasts for a while then my head becomes allergic.

Last year I discovered tresemme hair and scalp renewal. I have the treatment stuff and use the conditioner. I have a weightless shampoo that suits my hair better. Since using the conditioner full time I have not had any issues and I haven't needed to use the treatment since last winter.

I would also guess that you might have a vitamin deficiency. I would ask to be tested as your hair, scalp and nails are often a good indicator that your diet needs a nutritional boost somewhere

It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. OH has it and the only product that works is Nizoral shampoo

Report
WhoisLucasHood · 14/01/2016 21:28

I've had it for years, head and shoulders itchy scalp was great at stopping the itch but also stripped the colour out. I now use lush shampoo bar soak and float which works perfectly.

Sounds like Seb derm! Deffo try Nizoral. It doesn't work for me, I use Selsun Blue which I get from Amazon once a week or Hergor shampoo if it's really bad. I alternate the 150 and 50 strengths.

If it is seb derm and you want a very natural way of managing it, don't touch sweet almond oil. It will just make it much worse. It has the wrong type of fatty acid in it. Some oils are great for it and others can make it flare up. There's a list online if you search itSmile
