Has anyone seen them look good on ANYBODY AT ALL? Every fashion blogger I see in them looks utterly ridiculous, like they're wearing a pair of jeans from the late 90s that are too short.

Agreed. They are awful and not flattering.

Yes they look shit. Even on 6 ft models they are unflattering. On normal people they are hideous.

With you all the way.

I had to google to find out what they were -behold Vogue's words of bullshit on the subject.

They do look like clown trousers.

They're hid-e-ous.

Of course, all the sheep bloggers are raving about them. They look awful on everyone.

Yes, I think we can.

Yup.

Can we put pencil skirts with ankle boots with them too? I've not seen any normal ( not six foot and stick thin) look remotely good in that combo.

I think I may have inadvertently started this trend when I didn't realise just how much I'd shrunk my favourite pair of flares. One of the hazards of assuming 'long' jeans actually are. Sorry Blush

They are the stuff of fashion nightmares

I think I quite like them Grin. They don't look any worse then skinnies. Or floor length flares trailing in puddles.

Oh brilliant. With my long legs, I'll just need to buy regular length flares...erm, maybe not, they do look shit 💩

Eew the had a pair on 'this morning' trying to say how great they were. Even the model wearing them hated them! ha

Are they back? I used to have a pair and looked fab in them. Pair of thongs on my feet and a silk vest.

Any trousers that are not full length look shit unless you're a skinny 13 year old girl! And as for culottes....

Thise things worn with boots of all fucking things on the Vogue page are not what I remember.

WilburIsSomePig · 12/01/2016 23:02

They look hilarious. NO ONE looks good in them.

Ok I'll concede the ones that kick out from the knee are um ... challenging, esp with boots. But cropped wide legs that end at the ankle, with a fitted top and brogues - I like that look and it's perfect for crap, rainy UK summers.

Isn't anyone else just so bored with skinnies that any alternative is starting to look good? I'm bored senseless. And sick of my arse looking huge. I'm only sticking with them for now because they're so bloody easy in bad weather but if we have even a half decent summer, I'm off.

But why are we surprised when most catwalk clothes are designed for women who don't actually look like the majority of adult women who have curves?

Report
MitzyLeFrouf · 13/01/2016 02:05

Agreed.

Cropped flares are the worst garment ever. A farthingale would be more flattering.

Totally agree Floisme.

I'm tallish but not supermodel tall, don't have many curves, and the half-mast look beings back my awkward growth spurt years when last year's jeans looked just like that. Not a period of my life that I'd like to revisit.

Just you and me then dowagerGrin

I just think any new silhouette looks bizarre at first then my eyes adjust. Plus any trousers that are wider than my arse and don't trail in puddles are worth considering.

The ones they put that woman in on This Morning yesterday looked awful. I didn't like the boot cut jeans either. They looked really dated.

Higge · 13/01/2016 08:13

I like them.
Tried the Whistles kick flare but had only one top that worked so I returned them....but I still had a hankering...so I bought a pair of Whistles wide crops with big turn ups.
They do require a bit more effort to get the proportions right but I love the silhouette, it's refreshing. I'm not what you would call a classic dresser - classic clothes bore me, I like taking risks with my clothes...it doesn't bother me that I might look back next year and laugh at their hideousness...it's just a bit of fun.
