York Factory Outlet

Will be not too far away from there at the weekend, is it worth a visit? Had a look at list of stores online and looks like a few shops I'd really be interested in, but are the discounts any better than just buying those brands in the online sale?

I don't think we have a factory outlet.

We do have a McArthur Glen Designer Outlet (although "designer" is sometimes quite loosely interpreted).

If you mean that, then yes, I think it's worth a visit. I think you have to go quite often to get the best bargains (I have found some amazing things e.g. 90% off a black cashmere/silk Armani jacket) because it can be patchy.

Some of the shops are pretty dire and some have really poor discounts.

Generally I think it's good though - I love the Margaret Howell shop, and my DH likes Paul Smith.

Its a nice trip out, very pleasant to walk round and there are some bargains to be had if you're lucky. I got a lovely shirt from The Kooples for £20 but have been lots of times and found naff all. Good luck Grin

I have a drive there a couple of times in summer - estee lauder double wear is only £19 and the ted baker, ralph lauren, Michael kors and french connection shops have some great discounts. There's a food area upstairs too.

Thank you&yes, I meant the designer outlet. Think I'll see what the roads are like for travelling first though.

I have been a few times when my DH &DS go to the railway museum & I go shopping on our day trip to York (do other things too) .

I think it is worth a visit - I always get the park/ride bus to/from it as I get the train from London. Sometimes I come away without much & other times I get a few bargains. Last visit I bought a lovely Furla handbag, cosmetics from the cosmetics outlet (whose name escapes me) but I bought bargain Estee Lauder perfume, Clinique & Bobbi Brown make , couple of tops from Joules, Osprey wallet for DH & bag or friends birthday.

I thought it was good. We went in October half term so was very busy and we had limited time so had to pick and choose where we wanted to go.

We were up visiting family. 13yr old wanted the nike store, where he got some air jordans for £39 reduced from something like £170. black hi tip things. He was really pleased with them. Plus hoodies and sweatpants cheaper than normal. I also got dd (9) a pair of new trainers for school, also things like the trainer liner socks £6 for a 5 pack so brought a few as the 13 and 18yr old wear those all year round.

dd went crazy with her £20 from grandparents in the claires accessory store. was like a jumble sale but she loved it.

Joules had some good bargains, gap, crew clothing, yankee candle (got some good Christmas presents). There were plenty more stores but that was all we had time for. I am planning on going back in feb half term alone, while h takes the dc to visit relatives.
