Morning! Feeling fine but suspect I was rather annoying to my nearest and dearest when I got back - and they were watching Masterchef on iplayer. They kept shushing me. Dh very bemused re late night ham and cheese buying!
Nice new thread Mrs S! X

Excellent thread title, thanks Mrs S!
Pleased you all had a wonderful time last night and are not too worse for wear.
Mi, bloody hell @having to acquire an oven on Xmas eve. Wishing your Dh much luck out there.

I really do not want to go over the stoop today at all, but find I don't seem to have enough of a few things.grr. The local co-op will have to do, as I am not going to M&s now as the sale has started today.
Got a ham to do, and stuffing balls. Also need to deliver a few presents later.
Dd has gone to the dentist. I am trying not to beat my fists in fury about the fact that dd and Dh have not bothered with soap and water for a good while. These kind of things really piss me off.AngryAngryAngry lazy dirty buggers.Sad
Dh is a vile drunk and I always make him stay on the sofa. He never remembers anything from the night before. Hence relative enforced abstemiousness in this house. Has resulted in a few LTB situations in the past.
Although tomorrow may have to be an exception. Ddad has requested we get him a bottle of Jamison's not as a gift, but to drink on Xmas day. I am now charged with collecting parents and returning them home, so everyone will be hammered except me. joy [santa]

Ham said soak for 24 hours. Bit late for that, innit?

Oh no Cremo - that sounds a bit gruelling, you poor thing.

I don't bother soaking either, and Nigellas ham in coke is lovely!

Just got the missing sofa feet and £50 goodwill gesture from JL. Kerching!

I thought for a moment that was soak the ear, Beachy.

The hunter has returned, dragging the carcass of a freshly captured oven. He is installing it, in manly fashion.

Just reading Nigellas recipe Beachy and she says "modern" hams don't contain as much salt as they used to, so soaking not required. I guess that's unless you have something Heritage, organic and locally procured, wherein the salting may have been traditionally done. Mines from sainsburys so I'm not botheringGrin

It's another LTB from me, Mrs S. With a kick in the slats for good measure.

Feeling I festive here, though don't know why. Panto yesterday, three carol concerts sung/played in, tree up and twinkly. Maybe I need some appropriate music and/or baileys.

Have to go to Post Office (eeeek) and supermarket (murderous rage) at some point today, but later on will go to Christingle service en famille, and then the pub avec amis. Loads of chums are around over Christmas this year, making it potentially jolly.

Morning Crepies - am slowly going under - I feel there are lots of things to do that I haven't done. Had lovely night out with friends last night - she cooked for all the family so teenagers have slept all morning whilst "the old people" have been up early and stocking up on grub.

Crem - you are brilliant - I'm not sure I could have kept calm and poised in the wake of the transgender BF. I'd have just have to have said something ironic. I do get the feeling it's a bit in vogue.

Stropps - hope you're OK.

Glad you all have a lovely night out crepies.

Now in Tesco's waiting for drugs, man! Full ear infection, weeping ear, weeping child, weeping hot water bottle.....its manic here. I swear there are people doing their whole food and present shop in one go this morning Smile

Appears the provision of the cheese board has slipped through the cracks! Cheese will appear from somewhere.

No not a heritage ham at all.... so it'll soak for a bit then I'll plaster it up with whatever is in the cupboard.

Crem, dd1 'may' have a boyfriend who wears women's clothes. Not sure where that places them all gender wise, but can't wait to meet him....

Good tidings to all and Thanks for Stropps and hope it passes quickly.

Glad to hear that folks are not too hungover this morning (I don't know whether to hang my head in shame because I have never been properly drunk, only slightly happy, or whether to polish my halo). Hmm

DH gets amorous and maudlin when he has had too much to drink (and LOUD), but both of us drink less and less now we are older.

All shopping done, Parmesan sweet potato mash and cauliflower cheese made and ready to be reheated tomorrow (I managed to "peel" a fingernail when I was prepping the potatoes so they are redder than normal). Off shortly for lunch with DD and family.

I hope the ear responds to the ABs and DD is ok for Christmas, Beachy. Crem, keep going with the insouciance. I hope you have a peaceful Christmas, Stropps, with not too many alarums and excursions.

Better go and put some slap on my face.... Ooh, the sun has just come out, so that makes life look better.

How lovely never to have been properly drunk, NU. I tend not to drink any more during the week, or to have one tiny glass of wine while I am cooking, or a pub measure of G & T, otherwise I find I have no "off" button. As I have no gallbladder, this means I can be very ill indeed, very quickly. But generally, if I am not throwing up halfway through my second glass, this means I can go for it and often do.

Crem...Xmas Angry on your behalf but think of the nice drink you can have when it's over, and they've all gone home....
Hatty you wont go under...it'll get done somehow. Wine Flowers Chocolate
BD Strength to you!
MI not sure about the combination of DIY and Christmas Eve. You are a saint, woman. Dh is having a near nervous breakdown because I asked him to unearth a cheapo bottle of red for the mulled wine. Anyone would think i'd asked for a bottle of Chateau Neuf du Pape...

That sounds like a nasty ear infection Beachy Poor child, poor Mummy. Hope it settles with the antibiotics (presumably prescribed?)

Had a tiresome last hour driving home yesterday. All went well until I got north of the river and then it was bumper to bumper. I was grateful that DH and DD had made supper rare occurrence so I had seconds!! And then caught up on Masterchef...it's really tense this time. I have to stay away from the internet whilst we're out tonight so I can watch the final unspoiled.

I am pleased with self for having laid the table for tomorrow, this morning.
sad, but true It always makes me feel in control somehow. I am going to have a go at peeling, chopping and parboiling the root veg in advance too...they say it's fine in the fridge over night. DS2 has gone to see Les Mis with a gurl. Then we are going en famille to friends for drinks and nibbles this evening.

Happy Christmas Eve, Crepeys [[santa]

Thank you for shiny new thread Mrs S Smile

No time to catch up yet - just wrapping and sorting generally. Have a feeling DS is under presented in comparison to girls. I lost track when buying. Oh well. Too late now.

We have a few people coming over for drinks after carol service. I feel rather underprepared for that too.

Hope DD is OK, Beachy, and that an afternoon with a blanket and a bit of netflix makes her feel better.

Rose, I think we must be sisters, DH is about to do the potatoes and parsnips ready to be parboiled, and laying the table is the next thing on my list, hopefully before we go with DD and the children to the crib service. (DGD2, aged 2.7, informed her mum that "it was nice to see grandma and grandad at lunchtime", she'll go fAr, that girl). I run Christmas like a military operation, by the way, with copious lists and much planning, although I am very relaxed on the day and don't worry if we go off piste.

Merry Christmas Eve, crepesters, and thanks for the new thread MrsS.

I dragged everyone out of bed at 10am this morning for a proper breakfast (croissants and toasted pannetone with butter) as they will need to get back to normal sleeping/waking hours for the next few days. They were surprisingly good-humoured about it, actually.

The DDs are making the gingerbread tree, but of course we didn't have any green food colouring for the buttercream, so I was forced to drive up to Asda. Not nearly as hellish as I was expecting. At least I didn't have to tackle an electrical retailer, or a doctor's surgery, eh?

Still the stockings to wrap (scrunch in tissue - much easier and quicker) and mince pies to make. I also fancy making some savoury muffins for breakfast tomorrow (once I get my kitchen back).

Have I ever been properly drunk?? Hmm, let me think about that for a moment.

Blush
