Are these shoes hideous or not?

I lusted after a similar pair a year ago from Clarks (same style but oxblood patent leather with tweed insets!) and now these ones are in the sale at a mega discount.

DS1 says they look like clown's shoes and DS2 says they are weird. What do you think oh wise ones? I am thinking for work with tapered smart trousers or a short straight skirt and opaques?

Are these shoes hideous or not?

I think they look cool - very sharp.

Maybe, in one tone. As they are, they are hideous.

I don't think they are hideous, they are in a style I like and would wear, but they do come across as a bit clunky and something about the laces puts me off. Not sure if it's the photo not doing them justice though.

Ah, the one-colour ones are not in the sale, still £60. These ones and the black and white ones are £24 :)

They are totally not my style but i could see them looking good with some tailored trousers for work. Given that you lusted after something similar a year a go and still like them i think you should get them, plus theyre a bargain!

I think they'd look better with round rather than flat laces IYSWIM

With trousers yes, skirts no.

I don't like them, look like tap dancing shoes.

If you can pull them off Alexa Chung style then yes.

I thought you were male until you said skirts! Sorry I thought they were (very nice) men's shoes.

They are terrible. Don't buy them. Your son is right with the clown shoe comparison.

They look like they might have been worn by Fat Sam in Bugsy Malone. Don't be Fat Sam, be Tallulah!

Well, things are usually in the sale for a reason.

No. You will look like a cross dresser.

:D at Fat Sam. DS2 played that role a couple of years ago, shame I didn't have the shoes.

DH saw them on the 'puter later on and said something uncomplimentary which I won't repeat :).

I've ordered them anyway along with two pairs of boots. Will probably send the whole lot back but discounts are excellent and sometimes things look better on than you think they might.

Don't agree btw about things being in sale for a reason ie they are horrid - I once got a gorgeous pair of suede ballet pumps in the Clarks sale, £14 from £40 and I wore them until they fell apart. Wish I'd bought two pairs.

I've seen them in real life and they're hideous - and I love that style.

hard to see the colors , but brogues go well with straight leg trous. I like the b/w better tho/

I had a look at the black and white pair and much prefer those.

Not my style, sorry. I know the style has been popular but they are still men's shoes. As much chance of my DH wearing pink ballet flats as me wearing that style x

It really depends what you look like. I'm short and freckly so I'd look rather humorous in them. They need to be a counterpoints you, so if you were tall and olive skinned, for example, they might look good.

Sorry, but just no, no and no. They are hideous, and I can't imagine them being complimentary to any clothing/ style. Unless you're Barbara woodhouse
