Gap jeans - how does sizing work? Trying to order online.

I want to order some gap jeans online but have never bought their jeans before.
I am 5'3" pear shaped size 10-12.
I'm a bit confused by the sizing on the website. Do the numbers refer to waist size?
Should I order regular or petite? Sometimes I find petite sizes too short so they look silly but how long are the regular?
I'm interested in the high waist skinnies.

Any advice appreciated as I'm wanting to take advantage of this weekend's sale!

I'm 5'4" and I find regular bang on, so I think petite would be too short for you.

Sizing is very generous. I'm a pear shaped 12 and a bit and a 28 inch waist fits well, a 26 inch waist is too tight but just about manageable. I'd do a 26 if I were you (depending on which shops you're a 10 or 12 in of course - if the 10 is an M&S 10 you'll need a 28). High waist skinnies are vg for pear shapes.

If you order online, you can get a 27. They don't do them in the shops but do do a 25 Confused. I'd order a few sizes to try on. Once, they sent me petite 28 instead of regular 27 (or large 26? Something like that.) and they still fitted. I'm 5'6" with short legs and I wouldn't get petite.

I would get as many pairs as you can afford to try on. Sounds daft but I find that even in the same size they often fit slightly differently. I'm an 8/10 and wear 26 in gap. Are they the resolution denim as that's a lot stretchier and fits better imo but if it's the normal ones then in skinnies I personally would probably go for a 27.
