Anyone want to loose 7lbs with me?

Just wondering, if anyone wants to join me and loose 7lbs (give or take a few pounds depending on circumstances). Have put that on in the summer, cut back on alcohol and snacking in the evening since but hasn't helped, so need some inspiration without starving myself to death and treats going totally out of the window!

I'm not overweight, but jeans feel a bit tight and extra flab is hanging out so just want to get it back to "normal".

Yep I'm in! I am aiming for 2lbs a week up until Christmas which should bring me to my goal weight. I can't do diets I always fall off the wagon and get really fed up feeling deprived or hunting for alternatives so I don't feel that way.

All I've done is eat what I usually eat, which is pretty healthy anyway no processed stuff, I don't eat bread. Just a smaller amount and upped my veg. So far so good and I don't feel like I'm missing out!

What will you be doing?

I'll be eating and snacking as usual, but having slightly smaller amounts or trying to think of lower calorie ways of doing it. Hoped cutting back on alcohol and evening snacks would do it, but hasn't worked - to be honest I'm not sure what changed in the summer for me to put on weight, but I obviously need to make a few changes.

Anyway, from today I'm trying. Have been out on a short bike ride and determined to reduce afternoon snacking. We treat ourselves on a Fri & Sat night to something a bit nicer, tonight is a thai curry so am going to have slightly less rice or, have avoided buying prawn crackers. A bottle of wine is on the cards but will try and stick to one glass rather than consume half the bottle, and avoid saying does anyone want any chocolate around 9pm!

I'm in! But I need to lose more. I'm aiming for 20lbs loss by Christmas and 40 by end of Feb :)

Welcome, mayum. Are you planning to cut back a little on certain things, or following a particular diet?

I'm about to tidy up a bit in the garden, so will need to resist when I come in. The only problem is I do get hungry late afternoon, but I'm focussed now.

I am up for it!

Weighing in at 9st and my normal is around 8/9 so would like to lose 4-5lbs before Xmas. Crept on over summer too.

Been on holiday this week and eating anything and everything-but not put anything on- difference being I have walked 2 miles every day with the dog,

Resolve to get out for a lunchtime walk when back at work next week, cut back on the wine, cut out bread which TBH doesn't really agree with me these days.No rubbish, Lots of veg.

Count me in please. I always been able to eat loads and keep weight down, but a few pounds have crept on this year - think it's middle age spread due to my age. Been feeling a mess today and this gives me inspiration to cut back. Looking at 6-7lbs here and keeping them off.

So now I'd be about to start eating loads of nibbles and have a large glass of wine, cutting back to a few nibbles and half glass wine. If I'm hungry before DH comes in (usually the case) then will try and start snacking on veggies I'm preparing rather than reaching for more crisps, breadsticks, cheese.

I think I'll try and get some bike rides in before it gets cold and start doing a few toning exercises.

I want to lose 5 pounds-that's all, 5 measley pounds and they just won't shift! I've cut out sugar and wheat,I'm not snacking between meals,I'm going to the gym (ok only once a week, going to try for twice next week). I can't eat any less without feeling like I'm starving-I really can't go hungry but I just can't lose it!

ifonly4 - will go back to what works for me, low carb. I did lose 50 lbs last year but have since gained 15 back. Most in the last four months! :(

But no crying over spilt milk! Going back and committed. :)

6lbs to lose for me :)

A low fat snack alternative (which actually works) is a Crackerbread or Dark Rye Ryvita with Nutella on. Tastes a bit like Ferrero Rocher on Rye Ryvita and like chocolate wafers on cripbread. If you spread the nutella quite thin but so it covers everything, it's about 50 cals each and more satisfying than a bar of chocolate. I make one of those whenever I'm peckish (usually, until the past two months where I've been eating like a horse with a credit card).

Weighed myself this morning and only 6lbs for me. I think I need to make some permanent changes to loose weight and keep it off.

mayum, well done loosing so much. You know you can do it and loose that amount.

Thanks for that idea Marmaladybird. Might get some Ryvita in any was as they'll be less calories than bread.

I hope we can all support eachother on here.

I’m doing the 5:2 and have lost a pound (ish) a week since I started it 6 weeks ago. It is so easy for me to do now. I find that my weight fluctuates a lot though - I can be 4 or 5 pounds lighter in the morning !! I think I need new scales - they are definitely steadily moving down though so i’m pretty sure I am actually loosing weight Grin

In giving Jason Vale 5:2 a go starting tomorrow as I love my veggie juices so seems easy for me. Maybe too easy Hmm

I weighed myself this morning and yes, do want to loose 7lbs. Will weigh myself once a week on a Fri/Sat and will report! The weekend probably isn't the best place to start this, but have eaten one less biscuit than I'd normally. DH cooking tonight and normally gives me loads, so am sticking to my guns over portion size tonight. Managed to resist chocolate temptation last night and will do so again tonight (I hope).

Kate, I don't think I could do the 5:2 diet, I don't feel I can exist on too few calories (that's my excuse anyway). My DH sort of did it, on the lower calorie days he just had cereal, sandwich and banana, didn't worry too much about what he had for tea unless it was horrendously calorie laden and would only eat a yogurt if wanted something in the evening. He lost a stone and has actually kept it off by eating slightly less sweet stuff and trying to exercise a bit more. Actually having written this, perhaps, I should try it?!

I am a complete convert - I thought I wouldn’t be able to cope but I try to plan it for two days that I am fairly busy - I eat nothing till lunch which is a low cal soup or a banana then once I am home from work I wait as long as I can by keeping busy, housework, tidying etc then about 8pm I eat a ready meal (so I can count the calories easily!) with a huuuuge amount of salad or spinach, occasionally I have a ‘really light’ cheese triangle thing with the salad if I fancy a ‘dressing'. I make sure that I drink loads of water and just keep going. If I feel really hungry I just remind myself that I can eat tomorrow. I just love the fact that I don’t constantly think about food and what I am eating. It is just two days. Smile

Hi Folks! Several of us are also doing this in the weight loss bit of MN. I can see why you'd post on S&B though - that last half a stone off makes such a difference to body confidence & how you look in certain clothes being able to do them up for starters. I joined Slimming World in desperation, so that's 3 threads I could now post on. Ifonly4 according to SW, you can eat more rice (as long as it's cooked without oil or fat), just bulk up your Thai curry with loads of vegetables.

Me too please Grin I'd like to lose at least 1 stone, preferably 1.5 stone though that may be too much.. I've just joined Slimming Workd online as my friend just lost 11lbs in 3 weeks with them.. I'll weigh in on Fridays..

Good intentions here - no-one wants to join me, but going on a short walk soon (maybe will buy some Rivita while I'm out, as mentioned above, to have for lunch instead of a sandwich in the week). Have a large portion of last night's leftovers here, which DH suggested I could have for lunch, but think I'll it split between us tonight and I'll have something lighter.

Anyone else managing to make any changes over the weekend or are you starting early in week? Mine are only small, but seeing them as positive.
