Help me find an interview outfit please

I'm a civil service scientist and generally wear jeans for work. However, I have an interview for promotion next week. I don't think a suit is necessary (which is good as my suit is at least 15 years old!) but I do need to make an effort!

I'm 37, size 12, vaguely hourglass shape (although the sand has shifted after 3 DC's!). Any recommendations? Thanks.

Do you have a budget ? I like dresses for interviews I would look in Phase 8 ?

I don't want to spend a fortune, hopefully I won't need an interview outfit for a good few years after this one (although if it goes badly I might wheel it out again next year). I'd say less than £100, preferably around the £50 mark. A dress would be good, I'm thinking a heavier, wool type dress rather than a floaty style though?

I've just ordered this dress from Hobbs sale, my workplace is quite casual but I often need to smarten up when we have vip visitors. I think this dress would work for a non corporate interview too.

Good luck Smile

Some kind of sheath dress or fit and flare... solid colour like charcoal black or navy. You can then dress down by wearing a ls t shirt under or cardi over. Btw - was at a very smart conference last week.. women mostly in hobbs lk Bennett dresses, some in tailored trousers plus blazer (separates)... It seems the suit is dead

The dress down would be for wearing for smart days after your interview. . Big meetings or things like that. Or funerals if a dark colour
