Gap jacket problem - what's best thing to do?

Not exactly a style issue, but I'm sure you'll all know what to do. Bought DS a Gap winter coat in last winter's sale and put it away in a cupboard. He's worn it for the past three weeks and came home from school with the zipper catch bit missing. It had obviously fallen off and I can see why, as the large gap at the bottom of the zip means that once it's undone and open the zipper catch thing could easily fall off. Anyway, what do you think is the best approach as coat currently unusuable as it can't be done up, it's had very little use, and even in the sale, cost £20.

I'd return it! DS got a new jacket from Baby Gap, wore it for the first time today and within 10 mins of it being on DH noticed that one of the velcro fasteners alongside the zip was hanging off. Usually their quality's really good.

Unfortunately zip can't be replaced as it's fused into the jacket rather than sewn. Will take it back and let you know how I get on. Was talking to a friend and she bought a coat for her toddler at Gap. She's had to have it replaced four times as various thing have gone wrong. The latest thing is the lining has come away from the rest of the jacket. Sounds as if quality control may not be as good as it could be.

Result! Took jacket back and even though they knew I'd bought it in the sale, they gave me a new jacket (at full price) without question. Very good customer service. I've just noticed it's got the velcro fasteners, Millie1, so hope they last a bit longer than yours did.

Well done taking it back ... I phoned about mine and they're holding the same jacket in his size until I can get in at the weekend.

Don't ever try washing one of GAP's puffa jackets. They go horribly flat. GAP recommend putting them in the tumble dryer with tennis balls, but honestly, they're never the same again.
