Want to try something other than Chanel number 5. Any thoughts. I like deep heavier perfumes. Nothing floral. I want one of those that passing people say what's that you are wearing!

Dior Addict and Dior Hypnotic Poison. Both are strong and beautiful winter perfumes.

Oh god I am SO happy to crack out my heavy orientals now that Autumn is here!

My all time No.1 is Frederic Malle - Musc Ravageur. It makes strange men try to sniff me Grin.

Current favourite is Elizabeth & James Nirvna Black. Just three notes. Violet, Sandalwood and Vanilla. It's stunning.

Dior Hypnotic Poison

Tom Ford Noir Extreme
Tobacco Vanille
Tuscan Leather

Armani Privé Cuir Amethyste

By Kilian Straight to Heaven

Bvlgari Black

I am quite particular about perfumes. I hate florals. Hate fruity. Hate anything sweet.

I've just discovered Jo Malone Nutmeg and Ginger, loving it!

Me too drama. That's why I have a huge collection of samples of the more niche stuff. Can't justify buying full bottles. The Nirvana isnt available in the UK. I bought it from a US Ebay seller. And it was the full bottle. Which I'm really happy about now that I know I love it!

I wonder if you'd like Musc. I hated Portrait and ended up sending it to a fellow perfume obsessed MNer. It was powdery, rose heavy, old lady juice on me, not my jam!

Not today satan .. Strange how perfume is so different on others , with portrait I get mainly incense and heavy orientals with a whiff of dirty rose !
Have been in the perfume court and ordered some musc and perfume de Therese ( love vetiver and leather so hope it's as good as it sounds !
They only have nirvana white :(
Plus I ordered some cuir de russie ( chanel ) love love that !
Have you tried jicky ? Down right dirty and skanky but in a good way ;) not one to be worn for work !! Took me a few goes to go from hating it to loving it ! Worth persevering ! Same with mitsouko .. First it was like vomit and powder !! But I adore it now !! Most niche perfumes are so complex it takes time to 'get ' them !

Andy Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain. Woody and spicy. I didn't like it much at first - smelled a bit like my clothes had been singed! - LOVE it now though.

Not today .... My musc ravageur arrived!!! At first I thought of coramandel by chanel but then it softened to a soft milky vanilla with a hint of lemon and a faint incense !
I love it :) can't stop sniffing my wrist !!

Mitsouko to me is autumn, and I also love Miller Harris L'Air de Rien at this time of year.

Jo Malone vanilla and anise is very thick and autumnal smelling, I've been waiting all summer to wear it

Also bvlgari jasmin noir and jasmin mon noir

Angel is also a heavier scent, good if you like foodie, chocolatey smells

My favourite for this time of year is Etat Libre d'Orange's Like This. It's warm, homely and lovely.

NotTodaySatan this is a long shot, but seeing as you've named some of my favourite perfumes, I'll ask anyway! Do you - or anyone else - know how Nirvana Black compares to MAC MV3?

It's supposedly a similar scent and as MV3, my all-time favourite, was discontinued a few years ago, I'm desperate to find something even half as good!

I've tried Musc Ravageur, Tobacco Vanille and Bvlgari Black, all of which have also been suggested as 'replacements' and while I like and wear them all (MR less so as it just makes me think of incense-filled Kensington Market!), none is even slightly similar. Sad
