Outfit suggestions for 40th Birthday - help please!

My 40th is approaching and I'll be having some sort of celebration - most likely a get together in a pub. I feel fat and frumpy and want to look fabulous at 40. Can someone inspire me with what I should wear for my party? I'm 5 ft 5 and.a size 16 with lots of wobbly bits! Upper arms are flabby so definitely need these covered up. Apple shaped figure with a tummy but legs not bad! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

You sound like me but a few years older. Any budget restraints? Colours to avoid etc?

Price wise, I'm definitely more Dotty P than designer. However, as I am approaching an age where I should try and behave like an adult, I could probably stretch the budget to a couple of hundred for the right things! I can carry most colours but usually stick to dark things - probably where I need some guidance in being more adventurous.
