I am thinking about getting this professionally done (usually just Veet it)

Does it really hurt, and is it embarrassing or are beauticians well used to this request ... ?

I only ever used to do it via a ladyshave then this summer, first holiday in aaaaaages and I plucked up the courage to go into a local salon and explain it was an untamed wilderness that hasn't been touched since my c-section ten years previously. They didn't bat an eyelid! They recommended a hot wax and seriously it didn't hurt except a little bit when I flinched expecting pain. It was more pricey then the regular wax they advertised but I think for a first time that worked for me.

It's so common now, they won't bat an eyelid.

It hurts where it's dense hair, but that's just the first time. Keep it up and you barely notice it.

See, I read these threads and think yes but what if I'm different, ie I'm not the perfect shape, and at 37 I've never had anything waxed.

Trim things down a bit, and stop worrying. Go in for a half leg wax or eyebrow first so you can feel more comfortable with them.

I'm 45 and started to go all off a few months ago. I've had 4 kids and the beautician hasn't recoiled/flinched at what she's seen.

I worry more about how it would work if I got piles again.

Honestly, it isn't a big deal anymore. Be brave. Or don't go the full monty yet. Build up to it.
