air drying hair....

Sometimes i just dont feel like using a hairdryer. My hair doesnt fair well when i do this. It gets incredibly dry, frizzy and although fine, it goes kind of thick and tangly. What can i put on it to stop this? I have tried lots of things in the past. I dont get on with frizz ease. It makes my hair feel dirty.
I have used oils on my hair, they are ok but no miracle. Just want my hair feeling like nourished hair and less like straw. Any ideas?

Don't use a hair brush on wet hair. Ideally don't use anything unless you really need to and even then it should be a wide tooth comb. Pantene have a lovely serum to add shine and moisture it's in a red pump bottle

Comb it through with a fine tooth comb so it is untangled and straight.

Then comb through a lot of Frizzy ease mousse (several big golf balls if long hair).

Then don't touch it.

Once it is dry, put on some shine spray or serum (rub a little bit between your palms and then run both palms together down the length of your hair - the loose hanging part not on the scalp)

Voila.

Thanks. I dont normally get on with frizz ease but have never tried the mousse. Will give it a whirl.

Putting nothing on it isnt really an option. It dries crispy, thick and tangled.

Will also look into pantene serum.

Thanks ;)

Any more suggestions?

Agree with Glitz - touch your hair as little as possible when it's drying. I would suggest using a conditioning mask (personally I like the Aussie one called Miracle Moist, leave on for 5 minutes while you shave legs, clean teeth, send whatsapps, etc.) Then just pat your hair carefully with a towel to remove the excess water. Don't wrap your hair in a towel. Leave it loose, and, if necessary, pat again with the towel every now and then to get rid of the dripping water. When your hair is about 30% dry, comb through it gently with a wide-toothed comb. Then when it is 50-70% dry, dab a little Moroccan Oil oil onto the ends with your hands, then and a little through the lengths (my hair is long and relatively thick and I use 1-2 tsps). Leave to finish air drying fully.

If you don't like Moroccan Oil there is a good and inexpensive Pantene serum which does the same job. It comes in a small, transparent, pump action bottle; the serum is a goldy yellow colour. (Sorry, cannot remember name and am not at home to check the packaging).

I have a long bob, after washing I run my fingers through and then apply a hair oil just finished the liz earl one, I let it air dry, am careful not to touch it, ends up nice and wavy, in the mornings I just run my fingers through to keep the wave, if I brush it it goes straight. If I was going out out I will use bumble and bumble salt spray and hairspray with my head upside down for more volume, my hair doesnt feel nice and silky when I do this though.

I have tried just using the hair oil but it ends up frizzy? I would love to leave it to dry and rather than crispy straw like hair, soft/silky and shiny would be good!!

I've been using a leave in conditioner spray and brushing gently with my tangle teezer brush, when its almost dry a little bit of morroccan oil on the ends. It stays wavy without being frizzy or poofy.

I can't dry mine naturally. It takes at least three hours and ends up like a lions mane. It's a little less messy if I use oil on the ends.

I don't know if this would work for you but I often found that my hair was better on day 2. So when I can I wash it before bed, blow dry, maybe a dab of oil on the resulting stiff dry hair. When I wake it's normal silky, shiny hair. My hair doesn't take well to any products either op.

I very rarely air dry mine because it ends up looking frizzy and out of control, which it is. I've got fine hair.

If I do, I spray it with leave in mist from Davines, that's the best conditioner I've found for air drying my hair, though I do use wet conditioner after shampooing too.

Brush or comb it the way I want it to lie and let it dry.

I then add dry hair oil, I'm using a Pantene one at the moment and really like it.

Strange you should say that because today its in much better condition than yesterday after i had let it dry. Still would like it to look better though when i air dry it.

My hair is fine too and dry and course when left to air dry. If i dry it with my hairdryer or big hair, it is silky and shiny but it takes so long! I just quite like to be lazy and leave it but it doesnt look good sadly! Im hearing lots of good things about the pantene oil. Will look for it at the supermarket.

I go to sleep with my hair wet and it's great when I wake up

I wash mine, use conditioner and comb it through with a wide tooth comb whilst the conditioner is still in my hair

Use a cotton tshirt to dry -put your head through the hole, then lift it as though you are taking it off so your hair is inside the tshirt, then twist and tuck like you would a towel

I then get dressed, remove the tshirt and run coconut oil through my hair for soft swishy waves Smile

Ive done the t-shirt thing - plopping. Its great when i just remove it and then it dries well just quite dry. I thought that the cure may be in the product to use. Great suggestions here though - thanks. Coconut oil seems to be a great thing to have at hand :)

I leave mine to air dry and use a tangle teezer to comb it out. Product wise I use L'oreal bouncy and tender - it's a gel & cream combo and doesn't make my hair crunchy.

I go to sleep with mine wet too, Ruddy. When I brush it in the morning it's wavy and bouncy.

I have really awful dry, brittle, fine, frizzy hair and I've been doing the following for the past two weeks:

  • Using cool water, wash only hair roots with shampoo. I try to avoid ones containing SLS, parabens etc. (Currently using an Avenda one)
  • Condition ends only, wait a few minutes and rinse
  • Gently brush through when wet (I know a brush is bad but I've lost my comb!)
  • Leave to dry. I wear a loose hooded cardigan and put it up halfway through drying also helps stop it frizzing up and keeps the hair "flatter".

I've stopped using any hair products, even oils, as I find nothing really works for me.

It's been two weeks so far and I've definitely noticed an improvement in how soft my hair is. I can even run my fingers through my hair without it feeling too knotty.

Air dry it 90% of the way and finish it off with the hairdryer.
